For all us nerds 2016 is a big year; Batman v. Superman, X-Men Apocalypse, Captain America: Civil War, Gambit (hopefully) & Doctor Strange
But we also have two hard-hitters coming out; Deadpool in February and Suicide Squad in August.
:ilv:
Both are going for a more gritty feel then most superhero films, both are going a bit crazy, both star anti-heroes and both have finished shooting and are in the post production stages.
But I want to ask you the question that none of you really want to ask, which is going to be better and why?
:huh::huh::huh::huh::huh:

Deadpool feels like a cheesy popcorn flick to me. Thought the jokes in the trailer were very forced, juvenile and really not funny. I can kind of predict what kind of movie it is going to be. Not watching it in theaters, that's for sure. Suicide Squad seems genuinely interesting.

Depends on the viewer. Let's say both are amazing in their own rights. One is clearly going to be more of an outlandish comedy and the other more serious in tone. This is a constant debate between fanboys despite popularity or reviews on what makes a "better" film. The fact these films look so different from each other as well as other comic films is an awesome thing.

Having read the Deadpool script I know more what to expect there. It's perfect for the character, has a team that is extremely passionate for the property and fought brining him to screen in an accurate way for the past 6 years. Don't know about Suicide Sqaud much outside the trailer. Right now Harley Quinn and Joker are all I really care about in that film, but I've barely seen anything regarding their performances. Not sold on Smith as Deadshot or any other other characters at the moment. Thought Smith would have made much more sense as Flag.

Success wise Suicide Squad has three of DC's heaviest hitters appearing together and while Deadpool has a huge fanbase for Marvel I don't think he will be able to compete with that fanbase's reaction. That said I think both will be very popular, and have a number of fans declaring one is better then the other.

Deadpool looks fun, but post Kick-Ass, I don't think it has the quite the same raison d'etre anymore, if that makes sense.

Suicide Squad looks a bit more fresh and more substantive to me. I just hope it doesn't skimp on the energy and fun.

Suicide Squad will probably be better but I'm looking forward to Deadpool more.

All I can say is... I have been looking forward to Suicide Squad for a LONG time and hope the film lives up to expectations, and with Ayer involved, my expectations are high.

I HATE Deadpool the character... And even I am excited for the movie. Reynolds is perfectly cast and the film looks to be something that is missing from the current CBM world: A dark comedy-actioner.

I think Suicide Squad has the potential to be something really special, and I'm anticipating it more.

I'm anticipating SS more, but I also look forward to Deadpool. Quality wise, I think SS will be one of the best of 2016.

I don't really have much of a connection to either in the comics but I'm looking forward to both. I guess Deadpool is the more anticipated for me as I know it's such a passion project for Reynolds, and the trailer stood out more than the SS trailer.

I think SS can be really interesting though and I'm actually looking forward to that more than BvS.

Suicide Squad hands down.

I have more of a connection with those characters, it's directed by one of the best directors working today, it's got a great cast and the tone appeals to me.

Deadpool will probably get on my nerves with the childish jokes and outdated pop culture references.

This choice is harder than it seems. Reynold's Deadpool looks spot on with the comic and could be groundbreaking. However, I think I'm more intrigued by SS and, specifically, how Jared Leto is going to play The Joker.

I've been looking forward to Deadpool, but I have a feeling the humor is going to be hit or miss. Suicide Squad, on the other hand, looks like it's going to be excellent.

Looking forward to both a lot and will be watching both in the cinema, but Ayer is a great director and SS and its cast could be someone special.

Suicide Squad easily. While there is going to be a sense of madness, it will be a psychological and depressing tale for the villains/protagonists. How these crazies bounce off eachother, and Ayer's incredible ability of bringing out top notch performances from all his actors is another point of intrigue. The concept itself is the arguably the freshest one for a Superhero movie atm. I have no desire to watch Deadpool.

Mostly this.
I have no comment on Ayer's work, that's the only exception.

Suicide Squad. I'm looking forward to Deadpool too.

Ss for me. But that is mainly because i want to see harley.

Despite the horrendous looking Joker, I'm still looking forward to Suicide Squad. The cast are terrific, and the overall movie looks like a blast.

I'm hoping that Suicide Squad rules. More rides on that movie than Deadpool.

I'm interested in both but if I missed them in the theater, I wouldn't be terribly upset and just watch them on Netflix.

Psyched for Deadpool as a wacky superhero character like him hasn't been done before.

With Suicide Squad I'm not particularly fussed as it comes across as another "team of misfits" movie and I have no prior interest in them.

I reckon Suicide Squad will do better financially though simply because of the hype of a new Joker and the focus on Harley

SS is expected to be PG-13 which also gives it a financial advantage. But as long as neither is a financial failure I don't care about what they make.
