Deadpool's Down Two Books Bought/Though Spoilerific Thread

Uncanny X-Force #6

Just not feeling this storyline as much as the previous. Maybe it's because Marvel writers keep trying to get us interested in Deathlok...and, nobody is really delivering the character nicely. Still, we all know there are worse X-titles. 6/10

Completely agree. The first arc was amazing and the .1 issue was great. This Deathlok arc isn't near as good but it's short and the next arc sounds fantastic as well so I can read a mediocre good three issues between better ones.

Poor JH. He's probably seeing some of these scenes and wondering, "Who the heck are these people who are showing up out of nowhere??" Well, the characters from Strangers In Paradise have been popping up, letting the reader know that this storyline takes place in the SIP Universe. I found that VERY COOL...but, thankfully for new readers, it's not at all essential to their enjoyment of this book. I'm sad to see it all wrapping up very soon; but, I can't wait to see how it all ends. 9/10

B'wah?! Which characters are the SIP ones and how do they fit into the two books? I'm guess it's the two women that I only vaguely remember showing up... the one being very tall and I think they're lesbians. I honestly can't even remember what their role was. I just saw them in this issue and was like, "Yeah, they're kinda familiar" from previous issues.

Oh... and just to say it... I've never read an issue of Archie in my life. In fact, until Hippie just posted I don't even know which one is which or anything about them.

I've got some Archie dupes I can send you if ya wanna sample 'em, JH. Can even pass them on to your kid(s?).

Got your wish, Phaed...IDW's announced a GB ongoing in Sept. Oh, and there's more Index on the horizon. Betcha can't guess what's being Indexed neeeeeeext.

That's... just unbelievable... :wow: :wow: :wow:

Thanks Wolvie but I wouldn't worry about it. My kids have actually had me buy them a couple issues but I've never looked into them. Maybe I'll skim it next time they want an issue.

I was going to put this in the new Bought/Thought but since it isn't started... what the heck...

A few months ago or more Phaed and mentioned a website called mailordercomics.com where you can order new comics at 38% off. I've been debating on giving it a shot being that I can get more comics that way and just assumed I'd do it when my income tax comes back. Well, I've been sitting on it for a while now debating if I wanted to try it and I finally bit the bullet.

I bought every comic I on my current buy list that comes out in June and then also added in Avengers Academy #14.1, Avengers Academy #15, Silver Surfer #5, and Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt #3 (all I planned on or already have dropped reluctantly). All this added up would have cost me around $123 at my shop. On the website it cost me $74.05. That feels like a big savings AND I got to buy 4 comics I wasn't go to originally but I ended up making up for it in shipping. There's a bunch of shipping options so I went with the weekly shipping (the most expensive) and added bags and boards to each issue. So in the end it all balanced itself out.

The good thing though is that I only have to buy bags and boards once every 2-3 months and it costs me less than they'd normally cost me, so the next couple months will be cheaper. Also, I chose the most expensive shipping to get started but could easily drop to twice a month or once a month shipping and save $15-$20 a month (a full week of comics for me).

And with how late I get to the comic shop and how out of the way it is, especially in the Summer when we don't have dance class out there, I'm saving on about 40-50 minutes of gas money a week.

Since I JUST missed the deadline for May's comics I emailed to see if I can place the order for that month tomorrow and sneak it in. I figure I'll give it until around July or August (depending on my job situation) and see what I think of this new system. If I like it I'll stick with it, if I need to tweak it to save more money (and I can) I will, and if I don't like it and want to go back to the comic shop, then that'll happen.

We'll see how this test period goes.

Also... I've placed my order but I can change it at any point prior to the end of the month. So if I decide to reduce the shipping costs, or drop some books... I can just edit my order and it's fine. I like that freedom.

Of course... this also means that here in a month or two I'll likely be reviewing books in these threads a week or two late.

Bare with me people... I know by then you won't care but pretend what I say is still important :(

I was skimming the site upon realizing that my payment hadn't come out yet and realized that they don't take payment until the due date, which is April 28th of this month... so I can go in and change anything I like up until that time. That's nice. I did go in and change the shipping. I feel that $30 for weekly delivery was too much. $10 for getting them all at the end of the month is appealing but I hate the idea of waiting until the end of the month to get my monthly comics, so I compromised and took the $17 option for bi-weekly delivery.

Also, I'm debating on dropping the Academy issues again since I'm already behind on them and not as interested as I once was. Well, I have the majority of a month to decide what I'm doing.

Okay... scratch all that... I canceled my order. I thought of too many reasons not to do this, or at least why not to do it right now, so I'm back to my weekly trips to the shop.

I read one issue of Deadpool Max....issue One actually, and I found it to be really....horrible. Deadpool didnt do anything...Deadpooly, I didnt see any scars on him, and it was just gross. Not in a "Oh wow, that's funny!" gross...but like "HEE HEE WE MAKE POO KEYS AND HAVE ANAL SEX IN OUR BOOK! TEE HEE!" Ehh....and then Deadpool didnt even show up until the end.

Nothing made me really want to read the others. But I do have to ask...does it change? Does it end up feeling like a unhinged Deadpool, such as the MOVIE SCRIPT's version?

Well, yeah, I guess, though I actually felt the first issue was pretty amazing, probably the best thing Deadpool has been in since Kelly, if not outright ever, so you and I obviously aren't in tune. I've loved the entire series quite immensely.

I'm just so used to Kelly's Deadpool, that any other Deadpool seems flat to me. Aside from Fabian.

If you're going to say '****', make it sound natural. It just seemed like they just added the ****ing word for the ****ing sake of hearing the **** in their ****ing comic. ****.

:hehe:
