Hey all.

when I went to see Iron Man on Friday, I saw a teaser for the Death Note Live Action Movie.

In English. I'm assuming the movie itself will be subtitled, but the teaser narration was in English, i mean.

the teaser said it was going to be playing in limited Release, but I can't seem to find any information online about when and where it might be showing.

anyone here that might be able to help me out here?

Check fandango. Search for your theater and look for coming attractions. It's playing at my theater, so I'm definitely seeing this on the big screen. great movie.

JMadisonIV, I live in PG County Md too and when I googled it it came up for May 20th. Looks to be a 2hr 30 min movie. So far the only releases noted have been in VA. I didn't see a trailer at Iron Man but it's on youtube.

What is this "Death Note" about? Are you talking about the anime?

I'm not much of an anime fan, but I did see a few episodes of Death Note, and I'm intrigued.

I believe the entire live action film is on YouTube. Last time I checked it was, anyway.

They're doing a live action movie? :wow: I had no idea. Count me in.

Actually there's two films and they came out about 2 years ago. They're just showing them at select theaters on May 20th. I own both region 3 DVDs. But I'm excited to see them on the big screen. Oh and the showings will be dubbed and not subtitles. But the voices they're using for the movie are from the anime, so that actually may turn out good.

Wow, that's great. I'll be sure to try and see the live action versions.

Saw this last night and thought it was fantastic. Direction, performances and cinematography were superb. I had no idea this was a made for tv movie until the first pause for a commercial. I was waiting to see Ryuk, thinking they've gotta have Ryuk and when he finally appeared I was like a teenage girl seeing Elvis, I was jumping up and down and clapping ohmygodohmygodohmygod!!! It's Ryuk!!!! Yay!!! He was so cool.

Western audiences would probably laugh out loud at the effect, especially the introduction but he was much better in brighter scenes. I'd never heard the characters speak Japanese before! Whoever did the subtitles deserves a medal, I really enjoyed how clear and concise the subtitles were, how when Ryuk spoke the font was the Death Note font and how whenever anyone said L it was written in that gothic font.

I've seen about twenty episodes of the anime and it was pretty cool the way they condensed different stories, and changing some of the outcomes gave the film a pretty chilling ending. Light didn't really have the time to discuss all his plans and schemes, but showing some of his actions in flashbacks was pretty cool. I'm going to watch the sequel next.

trivia from imdb

The scene when Light DELETED on the Subway required the entire subway line to be reserved for it, something that never happened in Japan before (especially during active hours)

Light can briefly be seen reading Jenseits von Gut und Böse (English: Beyond Good and Evil) by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. The basic concept of the book is that good and evil are not absolute, but rather social constructions and thus have different meanings varying from society to society. Obviously, it's a perfect choice for this movie.

Well I think this show is weird kids creeps me out...
