For all you lovely people, which decade has brought you your favourite films ?

Now, as a child of the 80's I consider myself cherished to have grown up with what the 80's gave us and as a young man in the 90's which heralded a dynamic shift in film making.

There again the 70's saw Spielberg, Scorcesse, Ford Coppela emerge etc.

So much choice in any decade one would wish to pick from 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's through to 70's crime and political thrillers for example and of course Star Wars and how that changed the face of everything.

No doubt for me:

1980s

Eh... There is good or bad in every decade.

I think the 'easiest' way for me is too total which decade contains the most of my favourite films and that would have to be

1980's

plus it had this gem of a film....

I think the 80's provides us with such an eclectic mix of film making, for a decade that is often 'written off' in comparison to other decades for areas such as culture, fashion, music etc., for film, it provides some of the best films we've ever had, particularly in sci-fi & fantasy.

1980s for me and I wasn't even born in the 1980s I was born in the 1990s...missed out on such an iconic decade in film

But my decade of the 90s timeless movies such as:

True Lies
Terminator 2
Last Action Hero
Judge Dredd
Street Fighter
Timecop
Interview with The Vampire
Mission Impossible
The Mighty Ducks
D2: The Mighty Ducks
D3: The Mighty Ducks
Godfather Part III
Goodfellas
The Addams Family
Addams Family Values
My Cousin Vinny
What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Goldeneye
Die Hard with a Vengeance
Mortal Kombat
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie
The Matrix

I could go on and on

Holy hell, how does one pick a decade?

Even though several favorite films are from the 2000s, I suppose as a decade I have to pick the 90's.

The Secret of Roan Inish
The Secret Garden
Pulp Fiction
Farewell My Concubine
Raise the Red Lantern

1990s by far because of the fact that it had so many hits so many timeless classics such as Goodfellas, Casino, Pulp Fiction, Desperado, Reservoir Dogs, etc. but also great comedies too in the 90s as well as action films hell this was the action film decade because in the 90s Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Van Damme, Gibson, Snipes, etc. were all at the height of their popularity

I picked the 90's too because of the Tsai Ming-liang masterpieces, the Malick and Wong Kar-Wai films (even though I have to miss In the Mood for Love), the Kieslowski trilogy, the Hou Hsiao-Hsien films in his best decade (even though I have to miss Millennium Mambo and his early masterpieces), Tian's masterwork The Blue Kite, etc, even though end up missing a lot of Fifth Generation films and the emergence of later voices like Lee Chang-Dong and Weerasethakul , unfortunately and Yang's later films.

Also the 1990s because of such movies like

Mission Impossible
Flubber
Face/Off
Con Air
Clueless
Legends of the Fall
Kalifornia
True Romance
Bad Lieutenant
Double Team
Sudden Death
Maximum Risk
Ransom
Lethal Weapon 3 and 4
Soldier with Kurt Russell and Jason Scott Lee
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story
The Crow
The Crow City of Angels
Trainspotting
Fargo
Good Will Hunting
Meet Joe Black
Enemy of the State
Marvel's Blade
US Marshals
The Fugitive
Bad Boys

I could go on and on about the 90s being the movie decade

The 80's had this....

end of discussion....
