Del Toro's Insane

inSANE is cancelled:

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/08/06/thq-cancels-insane-trilogy.aspx

THQ said today it has canceled pre-production on Insane, the trilogy project from Volition Studios and movie director Guillermo Del Toro. The publisher said it has returned the rights of the game to Del Toro. The game was first revealed in December 2010. Since then, no other information has surfaced from the developer. THQ says Insane was in very early exploratory development and that no development teams have been affected by this announcement.

****ing ****! I was interested since it's meant to be very Lovecraftian but considering it wasn't even far of the developing there's no huge loss but hopefully del Toro will take this somewhere else.

It's hard to get upset about a game we knew virtually nothing about, but I am sad that we won't be getting a del Toro game any time soon.

I was wondering why this had seemingly dropped off the map.

Yeah and del Toro clearly loves games so it would've be nice to see one that he's involved, Lovecraftian survival horror are what's been described for this game and I don't need anymore to be sold. If del Toro's still interested I think it's best not to have an AAA budget for the game since I don't think horror games doesn't have such a big market and the ones that are good don't really have a big budget so it's not expected to be sold as well as your regular Call of Duty's.

Have you listened to the interview between del Toro and Ken Levine?

Yeah it's pretty amazing, I could listen to these two great artists talk about anything.

Well, I can't say I'm surprised with the news, but I'm still disappointed. Del toro understands how video game works, so I was really excited to seeing what he'd do with the video game medium.
