Denzel Washington in Halo??

As Master Chief? naaa but I can see him play that black general guy
yeah, he would be good as Johnson.
These other people should be in the film as well.
Yuri Lowenthal
Michelle Rodriguez
Laura Prepon
Orlando Jones
Julie Benz
They are all in the VG, but have small roles, mostly only nameless marines.
They wouldn't have large parts, maybe in Master Chiefs squad.
Julie Benz is the only one with a name, Miranda Keyes.

I loved Julie Benz in Angel so I'd love for her to be in Halo. As for Denzel as the Chief...no. Never show the face, keep the voice.

If they show his face...
Oh I will be SOOOOO Pissed.

My thoughts on casting the Chief since day one:

If they can, get some body builder, then dub the guy who does his voice in the video game over it.

If they can't, Ron Perlman for Master Chief

I totally agree

pull a Darth Vader

Ron Perlman should play his character from the game, Lord Hood.
And I agree, why not bring in the guy from the Game, Steve Downes.
Then people won't be all angry and damn it from day one.

Agreed

That is the one thing they have to get right

They can **** with almost anything else but that is the one thing that they MUST GET RIGHT. Hopefully with Microsoft having most of the Creative Control over this Movie they will know what they are doing

yeah, it's actually supossed to be in the same universe as the games, unlike other VG movies.

I disagree, simply for the fact that he looks nothing like Lord Hood. But yeah, downes for Chief...again

Denzel in halo is good news. If its true of course. Hes a great actor.

Isn't Lord Hood a Brute? He'd of course be CGI. So it would only be his voice.

Perlman pulled off Hellboy, whatever Perlman was could definitely be done. Anyway. 7'0 tall muscular guy strapped in armor, Steve Downes voice over, Star Wars Darth Vader style.

As long as it isnt Vin Diesel or the Rock, Im good with who they choose lol.

I was just watching G4 attack of the show, and the ticker at the bottom of the screen announced that Denzel will be Master Chief. Not sure if its true or not.

That wouldn't work at all. Darth Vadar in the original SW movies didn't have nearly as much screen time as Master Chief will have in Halo. Also, Darth Vadar didn't have anywhere close to the amount of physical movement that will be required of Master Chief.

You need to have one actor for this role (both in the suit and the voice) in order to make a character who's face is never seen emote and actually seem like a real man under the armor.

Have you seen V for Vendetta? It worked so well because Hugo Weaving is very good actor who was able to act with both his body and his voice even though his face was never shown.

So, having one of the best actors of his generation and one of the best actors alive today, Denzel Washington, play Master Chief would be ideal as he would be able to act with his voice and his movement - something that would not happen if it was a body builder in the suit and another voice dubbed over.

BTW, are some of you that racist that you just couldn't believe that Master Chief might not be a White man under the armor?

You know, Yuri Lowenthal for a voice actor, is a pretty handsome guy, he could work in a movie.

I still think a Halo movie would fail.

Now a Red vs. Blue movie would be marvelous.

I'm ok with him as long as we never see his face. I don't want to see his no matter who is in the suit. People will be screaming "TAKE OF THE MASK!" like the ass who sat behind me i V for Vendetta.

Master Chief is a white man under that armor, and from being under the armor when he takes it off in the novelization of the first game he's as pale as an albino. Plus the character is practically a cyborg after all the training since childhood, and modifications to his body from increased strength to stronger bones. On top of his already superhuman self the armor makes him even faster. So no, he doesn't need to be seen as a real man. But Hollywood is a b**ch and probably wants to appeal to a wider audience than the fans, but that's a pretty big audience to begin with so there's hope for me and some others who don't want a new voice and famous actor for a character we love.

I'm not sure Bungie would allow that.
That have most of the creative control, I think what they say goes.

I have only played the games and haven't read any of the novels, so I didn't know anything about his race - my bad.

I do have to comment that people love these games because they were actually "playing" the game. Gamers have the connection because they are truly part of the game. The connection is inherent due to gameplay/control/etc... Can a movie adoptation really work if there is no emotional connection to the characters of the movie, i.e. they are pretty much robots or cyborgs as you stated? This is a valid question and not a jab so don't get all uppity. I agree totally that we should never see Master Chief's face in a Halo movie. I also don't think that they should go the typical "Hollywood" route of trying to make him more human by adding a love interest plot or a little sidekick or any of the other nonsense that Hollywood often does in an attempt to humanize characters. However, without having the gamer's emotional connection of one who is controlling the action, how can any actual emotional connection to the plight of Master Chief's quest be brought to the audience in a film without using a talented actor for both the man in the suit and the voice.

BTW, he does have to be seen as a "man' under the armor for a film, because it is based on human survival and doesn't have the built-in connection that is generated through gameplay. Also, most Halo fans have not read the novels and have only played the games, so you are more of the exception than the rule.

I ask you why make a movie if it is going to be nothing more than watching a videogame that you cant play and can only connect to if you have played the game? Obviously, Peter Jackson and Fox/Universal think that Halo offers a great platform and story for a terrific sci-fi movie. The key to the last sentence is movie and not videogame. A new voice is not going to alter a great adaptation in any way. Also, Denzel Washington is not just a famous actor. He is one of the great actors. Why wouldn't you want one of the best in the business bringing life on screen to one of your favorite characters? Come on, it isn't like Ben Affleck is being rumored for the part. This is Denzel Washington - one of the all time great actors.

Physically, the only person who can play Master Chief is Shaq. And that's not a recommendation.

To be honest I'd rather have the movie be another branch of the Halo universe than be Master Chief centric, but if they do put him in I don't want to be emotionally attached, I want to see the badass I played as doing his thing. If they give him big speaking parts in the film I'll feel cheated, since one of the things I love about the guy is how when he speaks, it's always short and with a purpose.
