i was watching a rerun of lost tonight, about some guy who can travel back in time but i walys found himselfon the island and basically ws told that the universe has its plan for you, you don't choose your life, its already chosen for ya. and nobody what you do to change your fate, life always has a way of fixing itself so your destiny will always follow you.

i know its just a showand all, but im sure we all have our own beliefs on that issue.

Meh. The future holds what it holds and s**t happens. I believe we all choose, but you know, it could be destiny and I'm just basking in the ignorance of not knowing what's to come.

There is no such thing as destiny, that concept was created by people who don't want to admit any responsibility for their actions. "Dude, it was destiny."

"Kritish, it is your destiny."

Destiny is not a matter of CHANCE, it is a matter of CHOICE.

-William Jennings Bryan

Destiny is the concept by which losers justify sloth.

My next tattoo is gonna be an ambigram of choice and destiny. I think its a little bit of both. Destiny is there, but choice plays an important factor and can change it. Or something like that. I don't feel like being deep right now.

Soul mate is a pretty stupid term. Love is just hormones anyways.

No, infatuation is just hormones. Love is a lot more.
But a big part of real love is choosing to love, choosing to accept that love, choosing to take the chance on that love, and choosing to work on that love.
Anyone who thinks love is just hormones has never actaully experineced it.

Honestly? I tend to think that it's a bit of both. God, or the Universe, or whatever you want to call it may have certain things planned for us. Certain events or oportunities that come our way, but how we react to them is still our choice. So, while, sometimes, what happens to us is "destiny," our choices and reactions in regards to that thing are still ours. In short, I see a difference between destiny and pre-destination.

No, no it's not. Just high levels of hormones produced to make you fell attached to a mate.
Uhhuh, that might wash when your 15. When you 80 and still in love, despite a swollen prostate, a limp dick, and a dried up *****, its doesn't.
You'll understand when you grow up. :cwink:

Technically speaking, that's mostly correct. But everything we feel is just a reaction from the brain, so what does it matter?

There's a hormone for that too, I can't remember the name but it causes a feeling of "old love".

Uhuh.
Its all juts hormones, you're just a chemical machine in a deterministic universe and free will, emotion, and even your own thoughts are just illusions.
And maybe the day that science can even define consiousness, I might buy that.
Luckily for you I belive in free will, which means i think you have the right to think you're nothin more than a complex vending machine if you want.

I gotta say, I know some pretty healthy 80 year olds who'd take some offence to that.

Thats thier problem.
Some are some aren't. My point was for many couples there comes a point where sex is no lnger even an issue if they live long enough, (and assuming theres no chemical enhancement) yet love still remains.

Thats pretty much where I stand on things. I mean, we're all responsible for our actions and we always have a choice, but I think we already know what choice we'll make and in short, destiny always knows what we'll do.

so beside old sex... No destiny :), but what you do... There is only will :P

Theres actions, and theres consequences. Either you control your life, or it controls you. Either way you made a choice.
