Diamond List for June 25th, 2008

What, Mighty Avengers? That's not like the old Avengers at all, as far as I'm concerned. The old Avengers would never have been Tony or SHIELD's goon squad.

Hence, me saying that it's "as similar to the old Avengers as is possible for Bendis."

As for Jan, I guess it might be because she's had arguably the most personal growth as an Avenger. She went from the ditzy, boy-crazy moron in the first year or two, overcame emotional and physical abuse, and eventually grew into a pretty solid leader.

She was a solid leader in one story. Now it was arguably the best Avengers story ever, but it was still only one story. And why Bendis likes her so much but has her do jack squat is beyond me.

Probably because giving anyone else a bit of the spotlight would open readers up to the thought that Ms. Marvel isn't the greatest character who ever lived. ;)

I liked her better when she was a drunken trainwreck. Her current stauts just makes her seem like a *****ebag.

But she's the premiere superheroine of the Marve--bleh, I can't even say it with a straight face. :o Honestly, I think She-Hulk deserves that title more than anyone else. Maybe not right now, what with her crisis of conscience and all, but overall.

Wouldn't Sue or Storm be the most deserving? I think so.

I don't know, maybe. But the biggest thing either of them has done lately is get married, which isn't exactly a major personal accomplishment. Granted, I'm not reading FF, any X-Men comics with Storm, or Black Panther, so they could be curing AIDS for all I know.

Well, if we're only going by what's been going on lately, why would She-Hulk be any better than Sue or Storm? She's just a bounty hunter. :whatever:

Oh, I didn't know that was the debate. In that case, Storm pwns all.

I never really liked Storm. Maybe because I'm such a Thor fan. She always just seemed like an inferior female Thor to me. I liked her personality and matronly attitude when Kitty Pryde was around, and I like her friendships with Nightcrawler and various other X-Men, but I never really got into her as a character.

Weird. I like her because she's a total badass. :oldrazz:

Pretty good week!

I'm enjoying Secret Invasion for the most part. I'm finding that several of the tie-ins, as with many major events lately, are actually more enjoyable than the main series. And, really, you can't go wrong in a Thor tie-in with the reunion of Beta Ray Bill and Thor.

Wait what? How did my Beta-sense not go off if this is happening? ;(
