Diamond List for September 6th

52 Week #18
Detective Comics #823
Y The Last Man #49 (mr)
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man #12
Marvel Team-up #24
Punisher #37 (mr)

Only one more issue of MTU after this one. :( Damn you people who didn't buy this!

Maybe it's just me....I really enjoyed MTU when it first came out...but, for some reason, the title has only been ok lately. After the first twelve issues, the writer seemed to be running out of steam. Maybe he used up all his jokes and ideas early on. So, while it's a little sad to see the book go away, I'm not crying over it too much. After all, it's not like they cancelled Thor.

Recent marvel team-up has been some of Kirkman's poorest work IMO. Hit and miss. Invincible kicks it, hands down.

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man #12 $2.99
Uncanny X-men #478 $2.99
X-men Phoenix Warsong #1 (of 5) $2.99

I'm sad to see MTU go, but happy that I did get at least one person to buy it.

I think the last storyline or two has kind of suffered from changing artists. I thought Kolins did some really good stuff at the beginning.

I can't wait for Beyond to start sucking around the 3rd or 4th issue.

DC COMICS
52 Week #18 $2.50 (I haven't had a chance to read this book in about a month. :()
American Splendor #1 (of 4) (mr) $2.99 (I didn't even know this was coming out, but cool. )

If that happens, it would already make Beyond a Top Three Marvel book. :yay:

:csad:

52 Week #18
Detective Comics #823
Jonah Hex #11
Girls #17
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man #12
Marvel Team-up #24
Punisher #37
Uncanny X-men #478

- I agree that MTU hasn't been too hot as it's rolled into the home stretch (after "League of Losers" basically), but it's still fine for classic superhero action, the sort of stuff that Marvel "events" feel themselves too "sophisticated" for. There are far worse books that this that sell twice as many issues on sheer hype alone. Quite frankly I've been more disappointed in Kirkman's work on ULTIMATE X-MEN than this, although the second annual was decent.

- BEYOND! is worth buying monthly so far. Unless the trade breaks a record, they mean nothing.

FYI, because of Labor Day, most comics won't be in until the 7th, methinks.

Spider-man Special Black & Blue & Read All Over $3.99

X-men Phoenix Warsong #1 (of 5) $2.99

(BOTH "MAYBES")

They're not essential reading... I haven't decided if I want them or not, really.

that's ALL from the entire month!

I'm on a "maybe" about SPIDER-MAN SPECIAL: BLACK & BLUE & READ ALL OVER too. Firstly, because it's $4, which is a good chunk of change even if it's supposedly a 48 page story (as in about 2.5 issues of a comic, which I guess if it was a 2 part mini it'd sell for about $5.99 and thus this is a bargain). Secondly because like with many Spider-Man one-shot's and mini's, I wonder why it couldn't have been done in a regular title and suspect it's just to sell an extra SPIDER-MAN comic this month.

But on the flip side, I just read a 5 page preview and it actually looks decent:

(Of course, 48 pages may be, "one 22 page story and the rest are crusty ol' reprints!" like the last FANTASTIC FOUR special, which usually make me feel a bit cheated).

And at the ComixFan Forums, writer Jim Krueger had this to say:

Thanks for the heads up on this. I wrote this a while ago, but it's awesome, and should even make you laugh in light of recent Spider-Man events.

By the way, in in my defense for a story I still think is awesome -- this was sold to Marvel long before CIVIL WAR and the V For VENDETTA movie. You'll see what I mean later.

Take that for what you will.

Ultimates 2 Vol 1 Gods And Monsters Tp $15.99
Uncanny X-men #478 $2.99
X-men Phoenix Warsong #1 (of 5) $2.99
Hunter Killer Silvestri Cvr #7 $2.99

Damn, guess they were serious aboutthe next couple of Hunter/Killer books coming out on schedule.......like a normal comic book :o

ooohhhhh..... my purchases were under $20 this week! w00t..... I looked at that Shazam book, but the art looked goofy, so I passed!

52 WEEK #18
DETECTIVE COMICS #823

What a crap couple of weeks in a row for comics, I like to pick up at least 3 issues per trip. Geez.

Anybody know who's on the art chores for Detective this month?

I dont know, i just really wish JH Williams III would come back:(

JH Williams III. Man, I bet he really feels like a prick for using that as his professional name:o

No s**t, what is he, british royalty:whatever:

Anyway, yeah, I wish he'd come back too, but so far it looks like Detective is just going with a different artist for each of these single-issue tales. Which is fine if they keep the art quality up, but yeah, nothing will be as good as JHW3.
