DC COMICS

52 WEEK #16 $2.50 (Definitely, the best book DC is putting out right now. If only the One Year Later books kept me hooked liked this title does. I've dropped all but a few of those.)
BATMAN #656 $2.99 (This book was fantastic last month. One issue with the new team, and I'm hooked for the time being.)
BATMAN AND THE MAD MONK #1 (OF 6) $3.50 (Not sure if I'll get this. Monster Men was alright, but not as ga-ga as some were over it.)
JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA COVER A #1 $3.99
SUPERGIRL #9 $2.99 (What the heck was up with that last storyline? I like Supergirl more in the Legion book...that's a cool idea.)
WARLORD #7 $2.99 (I was so excited to see this book start up again, but may just drop the title. It's just so poorly done.)
WONDER WOMAN #2 $2.99 (I was wondering if this book had come out or not. Seriously, I can't remember what the first issue was about.)

IMAGE COMICS

WALKING DEAD #30 (MR) $2.99 (Darn, I was looking forward to this coming out today. This current storyline has really made this book good again after it just became a bunch of talking in the mid 20's.)

MARVEL COMICS

ASTONISHING X-MEN #16 $2.99 (Only 12 Marvel titles this week coming out that aren't trades, reprints or varients. It sure seemed like I was picking up a lot more comics last year.)
DAREDEVIL #88 $2.99
ETERNALS #3 (OF 6) $3.99
EXILES #85 $2.99
HEROES FOR HIRE #1 CW $2.99
MARVEL MILESTONES CLAREMONT JIM LEE X-MEN & STARJAMMERS PT 1 $3.99
NEW AVENGERS #23 CW $2.99
SPIDER-MAN LOVES MARY JANE #9 $2.99 (The best Spidey title out there! I love this comic, and it will be the first I read after picking up this week. It's sure a lot better drama going on with the supporting characters than having Flash have amnesia in Amazing Spider-Man and being a bully to a grown up Peter Parker. Now, that's just plain embarrassing to read.)
ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #99 $2.99
ULTIMATES ANNUAL #2 $3.99
WOLVERINE #45 CW $2.99
WOMEN OF MARVEL POSTER BOOK $4.99 (This book got delayed??!!?? It's not coming out today??!!?? OMG, first Civil War, now Women of Marvel Poster Book!!!!!)

That comic better not suck

I think with less comics coming out lately, it's officially costing me more to fill up my truck with gas than it costs me to buy comics for a week.

I've always stuck with marvel and independants (in trade intitially now I've moved over to floppys)

So my question is would the new justice league series be a good jumping off point for DC if not can someone recommend a few books to get me started?

If you can get July's issue, Batman starts with a new creative team, and the main book was really good. Most of the DC titles aren't that difficult to pick up, I've noticed. The characterizations aren't too complex. Even with One Year Later, those changes they made are pretty much over: Superman lost his powers, but he's got them back, and is basically the same. Robin was suspected of murder, but that's finished, and the only change is that Batman adopted him. Those are just two examples. Really, the best book by DC right now is "52", though it might confuse you. The stories jump around, and it helps to know some of these more minor characters that are the focus of this series.

Heck, even the new books they are starting, like Omac, Creeper, and The Atom haven't impressed me much. Really, you're probably doing fine sticking with Marvel and the Independants.

Oh, one book that's pretty decent, and is a self-contained story every issue, is Jonah Hex. If you like Westerns, you should enjoy those stories.

52 is totally not the best DC book right now, not even DCU book right now. Granted, if not for 52, my DC pull these days would be a lot less than before IC, but right now Id say Checkmate is the best book at DC.

And i agree about the Flash thing. I know, PAD must have something up his sleeve with that subplot, but right now its so painful to read their interactions:cmad:

I don't know if it will directly tie into it but it's safe to say that if you liked his Monster Men mini you'll probably like this mini.

And you have to figure it's going to tie in a little bit considering that Wagner is still dabbling into the early days of the Dark Knight. Always a plus.

DAREDEVIL #88 $2.99 - I might get this, because I've heard good things about Brubaker's Daredevil, and he's a god on Cap and UXM.
NEW AVENGERS #23 CW $2.99 - I might get this on a whim.

OMG...I was completely bored with Checkmate. The last couple issues I even skimmed over and didn't really read. I finally dropped the book.

Hall? Hall? Are we talking about your old school? Did you just visit your old school? Did you just walk into it for the first time in years and remark on the architectural worth of the main artery of your pre-collegiate arena for immature *****ebaggery? I remember leaning on that locker and rocking the s*it out of that nerd, man. That was a good locker. There were lots of good lockers. Decent hall. Go back to your home country Foreign McMingstein.
