Did anyone go into Bridge to Terabithia not knowing what they were in for?

(I haven’t seen the movie, but I read the book, which is excellent.)

The director and assc. did publicly disavow the trailers. They said the audience should not expect all the magical stuff throughout most of the film.

That's nice but they never should have released those trailers. They were afraid the film (though good) would flop so they tricked the general public.

the book sucked and the movie probably sucks too, despite what some are saying.

The director and assoc. were not working with the marketing dept. on that stage.

I went with my 13 year old daughter to this movie the other day.
Neither one of us had read the book and the only thing i knew about it was from the trailer my daughter had showed me. For both of us we were expecting a movie in a fantasy setting. As i was watching the movie i was expecting that at some point the kids would get stuck in some alternate dimension or world and had to somehow escape but the movie kept going and what i had expected never happened.

When
Leslie dies
it completely threw me for a loop.
I would have to say pretty much on the same scale as what happened in The Sixth Sense. I looked over at my daughter and she was crying and im sure i had a bewildered look on my face...

This movie was definitely not what i expected but it was very good. It is definitely the biggest twist ending ive seen in a long time.

I'd say that if you've read the book or know anything about the ending then dont go see it but if you go in knowing nothing you are in for a shocker.

Not anymore they aren't. :o

Superb movie, and definitely a misleading ad campaign, my biggest complaint was the fantasy stuff felt really tacked on, it might have been better without the fantasy elements at all, with just the kids in the forest playing make believe.
