I'm thinking about seeing it, but I hear mixed reviews.

Its alright..I'd lean more towards saving your money for something better.

I've herd its brutal

not good cause Gavin Hood is the director

It seems like the only people that didn't like this movie were the ones that were opposed to the movie's messages. They say nothing else about the writing, acting, visuals...etc.

I haven't had a chance to see it yet, but I want to. I saw the HBO First Look behind the scenes special last weekend, and if the movie leaves me as angry as the scenes I saw did, I should probably go see this one alone. :cmad:

The biggest complaint I've heard about the movie is that's fairly manipulative...we know this guy hasn't done anything wrong, therefore, rendition is bad. In real cases, the distinction isn't always so clear. I've read a lot about extraordinary rendition, and I'm sickened by the entire practice, so the movie probably isn't going to tell me anything I didn't already know. Other than tick me off even more.

It doesn't look like a good time for any of the war-inspired films. Lions for Lambs is only getting so-so reviews as well.

Lol, the messages are actually very good :D (im very left wing though)

However, it is watered down in the execution of these messages. Its played more like a basic political thriller, its not very complex, and it doesnt go very deep.

The directing is very good, Hood has skills.

Like i said, between this and Gone Baby Gone, or ..American Gangster...dont see Rendition. If you see it for free, go for it.

I went ahead and saw it. A pretty solid movie. 7/10

It's the first Gavin Hood film I've seen. I think "Wolverine" is in pretty good hands.

Yeah, I work at a movie theater, so I pretty much see everything that looks even remotely good if I have time for it. :D We actually screened American Gangster tonight, but it was a projectionists/managers only screening. I think I'll wait to watch it in front of a larger crowd.

If you liked "Rendition", you'll love "Tsotsi". It may be different subject matter, but "Tsotsi" is when Hood was at the top of his game.

Yeah, I know about Tsotsi and I want to see it.

if it is a free movie, why would you bother asking? it does not cost you anything but time. i do not understand why you have to ask other people to think for you... just post the question in the appropriate place.. im sure there was a thread on the movie.

Nope. But it flopped in the B.O. is what I recall.

Meh, nothing I've seen so far has motivated me to see it. It seems like one of those films that are made just to win an award. Plus it looks like it's more about getting someone's current political views across, rather than telling a story. But I digress, I haven't seen it yet, so I could be wrong.

the movie was great....

but nothing really stands out.
