I haven't made a thread in a long time and I don't think too many people here know me.

But I'm in the Army and I got back from Italy a few weeks ago (just training stuff). While I was there, my friends and I had a lot of fun. Going out nearly every night, drinking, etc.

One night we went to a strip club. While I was in the back with some more private fun, 4 guys jump one of the guys in my group. They all escape (we're supposed to be "undercover" when we're out of country) with me, one female friend, and two strippers still in the back.

Now, I had been drinking, but only a little. I felt a small, relaxing buzz. But I had my wits still. I paid for four seperate dances. They told me I was paying about 30ish-50ish euro for each dance. I've never been to a strip club before, and this was my first time out of the U.S. so I thought "I'll allow myself to spend 200, 300 euro max. I actually had a lot of money for my age, I could afford it, and it was a one-time thing.

Between each dance, I would swipe my debit card (which, admittedly, was apparently a bad area to use electronics to pay, cause they steal your information). However, when I'd be asked to sign, there was no place they showed how much I was paying. I've seen a couple other places that do that, and then on the receipt you keep it shows the price, but they didn't give it to me. At the end, when I gave them my signed tickets, they gave me my copy of the receipt. On this, I discovered they had overcharged me. They said I spent 800 euro, which I discovered later meant over 1300 dollars.

I didn't complain becausee there was a bouncer standing right next to me that looks like a giant. Sure, maybe I'm "trained to kill", but I know a losing fight when I see one. Turns out that was good, because a few minutes later I needed the bouncer's help when 5 Nigerian taxi drivers got in a fight over who would give us a ride and even started getting violent with us. The taxi drivers sell drugs (like cocaine) and carry guns with them. I told them that I was calling the carabinieri (sorry if I spelled that wrong, anyone who speaks Italian) and that I knew a few personally (I'm an MP). Two of the taxi drivers fled instantly, and another soon followed. The last two seemed to be friends. After I called in and gave the MP desk my situation and our driver's information, we went home.

Naturally, I got a lot of crap and jokes for this from friends and co-workers in my unit. I expected it. I mean, it IS a funny story. But some people (who usually don't know the FULL story, just parts of it they've heard from other people) actually say that I made bad decisions and stuff. From my story, it looks like I was just caught up in a lot of bad luck and got out of it alright (I didn't get shot!)

So, what is it? Was I stupid? Or did I just have bad luck?

Also, because people always ask:
1. I still had plenty of money, I did not lose everything
2. No, what the girls did was not worth 1300 dollars.

If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire the A-Team.

Seems like to me it's just one of those things where you're young and you screw around and you learn from it, you know? It's no big deal, as long as no one stole your identity/money from those electronic devices you were using lol.

It is a live and learn moment.

But wow 1,300 and all you got were lap dances?

That's exactly what I was thinking lol.

Sounds like a crazy night indeed, never heard of taxi drivers gettin into beef with each other over who's having the fare.

I went to one place in Paris. It was a one and only thing. My friends bought two beers, which cost them 80 euro. They didn't say anything. You got a free drink when you enter, so I sipped it very slowly. I spent 80 tops all together.

When I was walking down one street during the day, a guy at a strip club offered my friends and I 5 euro for a lap dance from one of the girls inside, but we said no and it was a good thing to because a customer came out a few minutes later and told us not to go in there because he was offered the 5 euro deal, but when he was leaving, they said he owed them 500 euro, not 5.

The taxi thing was bad luck.

The lap dance thing was you being a moron. Never use (even better don't even bring) a credit or debit card to a strip club. Also, why would you get more than one lap dance in a row? It's never gonna go past a lap dance, remember, there is no sex in the champagne room, none! A friend of mine actually brought us to a strip club when we were in Vegas last year, me, a friend and his girlfriend just got a beer and hung out, he immediately left with a stripper 20-30 minutes later he came back with a shocked look, he spent $200 on a lap dance, just a lap dance.

Bingo.

Had you ever been to a strip club before? It's so easy to overspend if you aren't smart about it. All anyone will want is your $$, so of course they'll take advantage of who they can. And anyone buying that many lap dances...well, they're pretty much putting a neon sign over their head that says that they're easy to take advantage of/are a little too excited about being in a strip club. Strippers zero in on who they think will spend a lot of $$.

Just chalk it up to a learning experience and move on. Did you learn something from it?

The trick to being smart about money at a strip club is only take cash. Not more than a couple hundred bucks. Just enough for a few drinks and some dances. After that, leave.

That's what I was thinking. Also, cash doesn't leave a paper trail.

Heck, when it comes to casinos you should also follow that rule. Don't use Credit / Debit cards in a place you can't trust (this even goes for buying Gas in North America).

Hey, that stripper really liked me! I'm sure about it.

when you go to a strip you only bring cash and you only bring X amount (lets say between $100-$200) TOPS!!

anyone who spends more than $200 at a strip (and that right there is FAAAAARRRR too much) has too much free money

Looks like we got another Ghostrider87 here guys :awesome:

Hey, just because I like to bring a dozen roses and give my girlfriend a couple hundred bucks at work does not make me anything like him. I'm thinking about seeing if she wants to see me outside of work this week, I really think she'll respond favorably.

On a more serious note, the only time I'd even bring $100 to a strip club is when it's a friend's 21st birthday or bachelor party. I'm not paying $20 for lap dances, yay, $20 to get teased. I'll buy beer and spend $1 to get boobs shoved in my face, but not $20 for some chick to grind on me that I can't even touch.

well I hate strip clubs in general, they're pointless teases. If it's a celebration and the only "social event" taking place and it's either that or stay inside (and I haven't been out in forever) then I'll go

otherwise, F a strip club.

The owner of the car dealership I worked at took everyone there to celebrate when Car salesman made no. 1 on Forbes most hated list.

Lapdances last about the length of a song. I never heard of a stripper giving anyone a 25 minute lapdance.
