They need to be at 180 million...the financing cap. Marvel could always throw in some of their own money on top but I doubt they will.

I realize that but Marvel has a budget limit of 180 million on their studio films and their business model has always been to never use their own money.

180 Million? I still think that's too much money! Thor isn't as well known as Spider-Man, Hulk so it's not going to rake in the dough because of the name alone...it really depends on who they cast and how the film is marketed and even then you can't be certain that it'll be box office success.

The little i've read about the script it sounds like a really epic tale though so they'll need a substantial budget regardless.

Yeah we're still waiting on Justice League boards too.And i think that will only come after WB announces the cast, release date etc. Same goes for Thor....

War Zone is in the same boat and on many sites the movie has it's own forum. Punisher didn't do that well if you ask me, and I own the DVD.
One poster pointed out on the Thor boards, that these younger readers like the more violent books and characters like Thor, CAP(Steve Rogers), Supes, just to name a few turn them off. Makes ya wonder what's in store for our favorite Honorable characters in the future.

What? Marvel has confirmed Thor. It's greenlit. It is happening. It won't take longer than a month to deal with the budget...probably just a couple weeks.

Wolverine's mentioned but not Thor, I've even seen a War zone mention and it's supposed to be out the same year!
I have YET to Hear a thing from Marvel on the stuff we've found, except for Vaughn Directing.
Marvel has had a history of ignoring Thor in many ways, this is just another way of doing that.

The fact that Thor is supposed to be Marvel Studio's LotR, should be a major point in PUSHING the movie. WE've done more pushing than they have.

You and I know the movie's further along than most of the other movies due out the same time and yet no mention on thier own site!

Dude what I'm saying is Thor HAS been talked about for more than a year, and for about a year it has been for sure Marvel has wanted to make a Thor movie. Their site, AT MOST, is behind a month, yet the X franchises, Punisher, IM and Hulk are all up and have been for awhile.

The ONLY thing I've seen on their site other than the anouncement of Vaughn directing, and Mark writting, was a ad for "You want to be in a Marvel Movie?" and Thor's pic was on it.

Yep, it has to be done before the strike occurs.

Speaking of which, Marvel really needs to get the ball rolling on Captain America or whatever their second 2009 film will be. That also needs to be finish filming by June.

They've decided to star filming Thor without actors, that way they can take their time choosing and then filming them in front of a green screen later and pasting them on the ready-shot footage.
