well, here's something interesting

today is the first day of summer and it feels as if it were october

I'm not gonna watch the vid, but if you're interesrftred in global warming and s**t, check out The Denial Machine, lol.

here's one it's 42 celsius here and it's officially a disaster zone because of drout :)

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - Sweltering residents across the West headed for lakes and rivers on Thursday, seeking relief from triple-digit temperatures expected to set records through at least Friday.
Some office workers were given the option to float on innertubes down the Boise River instead of sitting at stuffy desks, with temperatures in Boise reaching 104 degrees Thursday afternoon. Forecasters predicted a high of 107 on Friday—six degrees higher than the 101 record for that date set in 1985.

"Once it gets that high—105, 107, 109—it just feels hot," said Rick Overton, a copywriter who arranged the float trip for the digital marketing firm Wirestone. "I'm going to keep a tube under my desk for the whole summer and whenever it gets this hot I'm going to escape."

But temperatures in part of the West were climbing so high that authorities warned residents of southern Nevada, southeastern California and northwestern Arizona that outdoor activities could be dangerous except during the cooler early morning hours. Phoenix reached 115 degrees; Baker, Calif., reached 125 degrees.

A 1-year-old boy was found dead Wednesday evening in a locked car in temperatures approaching 100 degrees in Orofino, Idaho. He was locked in the car for about five hours when passers-by noticed him, and the boy's stepgrandmother was charged in his death, authorities said Thursday.

St. George, Utah, hit 115 degrees by 5 p.m., a day after a nearby weather sensor recorded an unofficial reading of 118, which would top the the state's all-time record of 117 set in St. George in 1985. Summer temperatures across Utah are running 10 to 15 degrees above normal, meteorologist Brandon Smith said.

"To be honest, as far as temperatures, for as far out as we can see there's no relief," he said.

Around Las Vegas—where temperatures reached 116 degrees Thursday afternoon—transformers were overheating and causing electrical pole fires because of all the people switching on their air conditioners, said Scott Allison with the Clark County Fire Department.

In Montana, farmers anxiously watched their crops and thermometers. High temperatures for a handful of days can harm crop yield.

"Prolonged heat is devastating. Four or five days of it is going to be hard," said wheat farmer Lynn Nordwick near Poplar, Mont.

Even Stanley, Idaho, which at more than 6,000 feet elevation is routinely the coldest place in the lower 48 states, was seeing record highs, the National Weather Service said. The remote town in the Sawtooth Mountains reached 91 degrees Thursday, and was expected to hit 93 degrees Friday.

Hardly anyone in the tiny town has air conditioning, said Nancy Anderson, Stanley deputy city clerk. The City Hall offices are also without that amenity.

"They're all going to the lakes and the rivers and trying to find the shade," Anderson said.

At least 150,000 people were expected to flock to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Nevada and Arizona in hopes of cooling off in the water this weekend, said Roxanne Dey, recreation area spokeswoman.

"For some people, we're the only affordable alternative for a place to cool off," Dey said.

In Phoenix, 42-year-old laborer Russ Waldrip wiped sweat from his face as he unloaded large windows from the back of a truck.

"When it gets this hot I pour water over my head all day," Waldrip said. "Sometimes I can't wait to jump in the pool, but I don't even have the energy to do that."

Arizona emergency rooms don't see many patients when it's this hot, said Dr. Ann-Michelle Ruha at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale. "People in Arizona seem aware of the problems that come with the heat," Ruha said.

In Spokane, Wash., the temperature reached 101 degrees, well above the record-tying 100-degrees.

Northeastern Oregon residents were experiencing what was expected to be the hottest day of the year on Thursday, with temperatures reaching 108 in Pendleton and 107 in Hermiston.

The heat and a dry spring raised concern among firefighters.

"We're really primed to burn right now," said Dennis Winkler, an assistant fire management officer for the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. "We're well above average in terms of fire danger for this time of year."

An index that helps fire officials estimate how fast flames would spread was at its highest point for early July in the past decade, said Dave Quinn, who manages an interagency dispatch center at the La Grande Airport in Oregon.

The heat wave began last week after a large high pressure center developed over Arizona, said National Weather Service forecaster Paul Flatt in Boise. A weather pattern was pushing that high-pressure center north into Canada, Flatt said, but most of the West is expected to experience high temperatures into next week.

So does it exist, or does it not?

That is the question.

Global warming, climat change, whatever the buzz word, is absoluely happening. The question is purely one of "Is it our fault, or is it natural". personally, i think its between the two...a natural process which we have helped along the way. so yeah, i think we should fight to change our habuits, electric cars, clean fuels and so on. the thing that makes me laugh is we seem to be spending as money and time arguing the toss as we would be solving the problem. how about this: the amount of money that has been spent on military campaigns, inm the mid east, at least partially cos stable gobt there is good cos of the oil supplies. imagine that being spent on photovoltaic solar arrays and wind farms in deserts. The tech is there. its only the costs that have stopped it becoming mass market, but if the demand rises it becomes affordable. the best to do this is for the govts and energy cos to take a lead. If i could afford it, Id stick photovoltaic solar panels on my roof tomottow.

Hubby and I wanted to do that, we were also thinking of getting small wind powered generators for our roof... two problems:

1. Expense - ridiculous
2. Availablity - non-existent

- you should be able to buy kits from the local home improvement stores and install them yourself, with the final hookup being done by a licensed electrician. Unfortunatly, Rona, Home Depot, Home Hardware etc. don't carry them.

Gore strikes again..........

LOL, you Idiot.
of course the Earth will "be okay" long after we're gone.
it's about how this affects living beings on the surface of the planet.
and of course some may survive.

you have no point. seriously, of your Republican overlords were telling you about the threat of global warming you'd be supporting it.

it's sad really.
iconpound3vw.gif

1.- Gore has no power over home improvement stores, perhaps you don't know this. but it's true.

2.- it's sincerely entertaining seeing you devolve, since there's no new article for you to cut and paste from, you're reduced to cutting and pasting smileys from bibleforums.org must be sad to be incapable of independent thought.

but on a brighter note, you're obviously not intelligent enough to notice it.

I guess it's a blessing in disguise. :(

It's Cellslim, anything thoughtful would be too much to ask. His laughter smileys are just defense mechanisms because he knows he's out of gas (no pun intended).

Dude....you just ignore "anything" thoughtful on this subject........

This planet is doing fine!! Do you realize how many times we've been down this road???????? Warming ....cooling..........warming....cooling.....

WHY IS THE GORE-DANIAN SUPPOSE TO BE CORRECT NOW??

WHY WON'T HE DEBATE ANYONE???

THOSE SMILIES ARE SO MUCH COOLER....... :yay:

why does everyone call him cell dog anyway??

i was talking to a friend of mine and he said there is some video that totally destroys everything Gore says in his movie. anyone know anything about this? im confused though, i thought everyone believed in global warming, i mean this sudden outbreak of it and people being in shock over it shocked me, because we were all taught about this since like grade 1, and people are just finding out about it now????

 you do realize that the majority of scientist say that global warming is a reality and that those that still deny it are a slim, very slim portion of the scientific community?
what exactly makes them right anyway? why exactly should we ignore all the other scientists?
and please don't post all those boring articles from 1975 I want to know why they are wrong TODAY, not if someone made mistakes or a failed hypothesis in the past.
any rational person knows that.
a lot pf physicians in the past believed that they could cure illnesses by draining "humors" from the body, should I distrust the doctors today because of things in the past?
no right.
finally, you do understand that Gore is not a scientist himself right? just a concerned spokesperson that happened to be at the forefront of this movement 20 years ago, correct?
you do understand that right?

did you hear about that video that shows that a missile hit the pentagon?
if its a video it must be true!!!!!
its truth in video form!!!!

the debate is still going on......Al Gore won't even debate on the issue. Why??
Global warming debate 'irrational': scientists

Stephanie Stein / Standard-Freeholder
Local News - Thursday, April 26, 2007 @ 10:00

The current debate about global warming is "completely irrational," and people need to start taking a different approach, say two Ottawa scientists.

Carleton University science professor Tim Patterson said global warming will not bring about the downfall of life on the planet.

Patterson said much of the up-to-date research indicates that "changes in the brightness of the sun" are almost certainly the primary cause of the warming trend since the end of the "Little Ice Age" in the late 19th century. Human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), the gas of concern in most plans to curb climate change, appear to have little effect on global climate, he said.

"I think the proof in the pudding, based on what (media and governments) are saying, (is) we're about three quarters of the way (to disaster) with the doubling of CO2 in the atmosphere," said Patterson. "The world should be heating up like crazy by now, and it's not. The temperatures match very closely with the solar cycles."

Patterson explained CO2 is not a pollutant, but an essential plant food.

Billions of taxpayers' dollars are spent to control the emissions of this benign gas, in the mistaken belief that they can stop climate change, he said.

"The only constant about climate is change," said Patterson.

Patterson said money could be better spent on places like Africa.

"All the money wasted on Kyoto in a year could provide clean drinking water for Africa," said Patterson. "We're into a new era of science with the discussion of solar forces. Eventually, Kyoto is going to fall by the wayside. In the meantime, I'm worried we're going to spend millions that could have been spent on something better like air pollution."

Tom Harris, executive director of the Natural Resources Stewardship Project - an organization that attempts to debunk some of the popular beliefs about climate change - supported Patterson's findings.

Global warming assertions are based on inconclusive evidence put forth in science reports that had not been published yet, he said.

"The media takes (inconclusive) information that only suggests there could be a climate problem and turns it into an environmental catastrophe," said Harris.

"They continually say we only have 10 years left, and they've been saying it for 20 years, and it's ridiculous," he said. "The only reason I got involved in talking to media is that I think our resources are being mismanaged.

"Go after something real and tangible like air pollution."

After hearing a second scientist say climate change is part of a natural cycle, Elaine Kennedy - a local environmental activist - is interested in investigating the issue further.

She looks forward to examining scientific reports that will be published in a couple of months by the United Nation's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

"The problem may not be climate change, but the problem is still pollution," said Kennedy.

She's not alone in her assertion global warming is a pollution problem.

David Phillips, a senior government environment expert, believes there is more than one contributing factor to global warming. There's a human element, as well as natural cycles.

Difficult to convince

"I'm a man that's difficult to convince," he said. "What convinces me is the large body of evidence, and highly reputable people promoting global warming, who are not lobbyists, but only seeking truth in science. They say the the earth is warming up faster and greater now than in the past."

People who are contradicting the global warming reality, Phillip thinks, have their own motives for doing so.

"These skeptics are keeping the debate alive (for their own interests). They try to confuse people into inaction," said Phillips.

Phillips believes global warming is solvable.

"We solved the ozone and acid rain problem. With effort, and a new way of doing things we could solve this one too," said Phillips.

Global-Warming Swindle
Hysterics exposed.

By Thomas Sowell

The British Broadcasting Corporation has produced a devastating documentary titled The Great Global Warming Swindle. It has apparently not been broadcast by any of the networks in the United States. But, fortunately, it is available on the Internet.
(link to watch is here)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6IPHmJWmDk

Distinguished scientists specializing in climate and climate-related fields talk in plain English and present readily understood graphs showing what a crock the current global-warming hysteria is.

These include scientists from MIT and top-tier universities in a number of countries. Some of these are scientists whose names were paraded on some of the global-warming publications that are being promoted in the media — but who state plainly that they neither wrote those publications nor approved them.

One scientist threatened to sue unless his name was removed.

While the public has been led to believe that “all” the leading scientists buy the global-warming hysteria and the political agenda that goes with it, in fact the official reports from the United Nations or the National Academy of Sciences are written by bureaucrats — and then garnished with the names of leading scientists who were “consulted,” but whose contrary conclusions have been ignored.

There is no question that the globe is warming but it has warmed and cooled before, and is not as warm today as it was some centuries ago, before there were any automobiles and before there was as much burning of fossil fuels as today.

None of the dire things predicted today happened then.

The BBC documentary goes into some of the many factors that have caused the earth to warm and cool for centuries, including changes in activities on the sun, 93 million miles away and wholly beyond the jurisdiction of the Kyoto treaty.

According to these climate scientists, human activities have very little effect on the climate, compared to many other factors, from volcanoes to clouds.

These climate scientists likewise debunk the mathematical models that have been used to hype global-warming hysteria, even though hard evidence stretching back over centuries contradicts these models.

What is even scarier than seeing how easily the public, the media, and the politicians have been manipulated and stampeded, is discovering how much effort has been put into silencing scientists who dare to say that the emperor has no clothes.

Academics who jump on the global-warming bandwagon are far more likely to get big research grants than those who express doubts — and research is the lifeblood of an academic career at leading universities.

Environmental movements around the world are committed to global-warming hysteria and nowhere more so than on college and university campuses, where they can harass those who say otherwise. One of the scientists interviewed on the BBC documentary reported getting death threats.

In politics, even conservative Republicans seem to have taken the view that, if you can’t lick ‘em, join ‘em. So have big corporations, which have joined the stampede.

This only enables the green crusaders to declare at every opportunity that “everybody” believes the global-warming scenario, except for a scattered few “deniers” who are likened to Holocaust deniers.

The difference is that we have the hardest and most painful evidence that there was a Holocaust. But, for the global-warming scenario that is causing such hysteria, we have only a movie made by a politician and mathematical models whose results change drastically when you change a few of the arbitrarily selected variables.

No one denies that temperatures are about a degree warmer than they were a century ago.

What the climate scientists in the BBC documentary deny is that you can mindlessly extrapolate that, or that we are headed for a climate catastrophe if we don’t take drastic steps that could cause an economic catastrophe.

“Global warming” is just the latest in a long line of hysterical crusades to which we seem to be increasingly susceptible.

How many times have we been over this Mr. Spickle??? What you are saying is just not true..... What majority??? There are just as many that say you are nuts!

And screw 20 years ago!! 35 years ago they said we would be in an ICE AGE right NOW!!

no we haven't been over this.
the Majority, Celldog, the VAST majority, so much so that the GOVERNMENT APPOINTED PANEL AGREES.
the same administration you protect has pretty much admitted to the problem.
are you that blind?
LOL, I'm just sad that you'll be dead by the time the real problems start.
you ignorant fool.

And Bush wants illegal aliens to have amnesty!! So what if Bush has caved to this crap!! Contrary to what you think you know about me, I don't give Bush a blank check on everything! And he's pandering to the left on this issue too...... These guys just want votes!

There is not global warming crisis!! Al Gore is looking for a legacy! something to hang his hat on....... he's become pathetic over the years since he lost. He refuses to lose this one too.

in a Horrifying twist of fate, even DIck Cheney has more sense than Celldog.

JONATHAN KARL: So you think the jury is still out about whether or not this warming we're seeing has been caused by human activity?

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Some of it has, I think. But exactly where you draw the line? I don't know. I'm not a scientist. I talk with people who supposedly know something about it. You get conflicting viewpoints. But I do think it is an important subject, and it will be addressed in the Congress. I think there will be a big debate on it in the next couple of years.

 now THAT'S shocking.

LOL

Look at Celldog trying to make global warming, and illegal immigrant problem, f**king hilarious.

and uh...Al Gore was vice president during the Golden Age of the US worldwide, I think his "legacy"is pretty set.

amnesty! LMAO sure, if they comply with immigration laws and pay like 10,000 dlls in penalties plsu legal fees! HA! that summer home in Cape Cod will have to wait Pedro!!

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

*(what does an outgoing president want votes for? best smile?)

SAVE THE THE PLANET FROM CO2 EMISSIONS CONCERTS!! YAY!

Wonder how many of these were used to haul all of that equipment....platforms....lights??? Hmmmmmm

DANG! LIGHTS!!! Geez..........will all of the stages be lit by those new fancy light bulbs "filled with poisonous Mercury?" How much power will these concerts consume?????

And all those singers and movie stars....... tell me they're not using these things to get there....

Hypocrites...........

This is the biggest bunch of crap I've seen.
