Discussion: Strange Mass Animal Deaths!

There is nothing strange about all these deaths - they happen all the time.

The only reason we're hearing about them now is because after the initial one was reported, everyone all over the place is trying to capitalize on it and the media is going for sensationalism.
Scores of dead fish turning up on the shores of Thailand? Hundreds of dead turtle doves littering the streets of Italy? Black birds falling from the sky?

There is nothing usual about this at all.

South Korea buries 1 million pigs alive due to foot and mouth diseases outbreak.

South Korea has been heavily criticised for burying up to one million pigs alive as it grapples with a foot and mouth disease outbreak.

So we're not supposed to be worried right?

The article said they were burying pigs alive, including those who may not be infected. The picture inside the article was especially appalling. ...It's all so barbaric...

And I don't see what a poor country overreacting to a disease has to do with some end of the World scenario. Fact is, they're just pigs, when they start burying people alive then it'll be time to worry.

dude.
Shut. Up.

But you're not explaining to me why I'm wrong. And them being poor or not doesn't really matter, over reacting and burying a million of pigs isn't the most rational response to this.

They should have sent them over to North Korea.

South Korea is wealthy. North Korea is the one that is poor as hell.

Thanks for the correction, I actually looked it up after I posted that. I still don't think the article has anything to do with the other deaths. It's mostly just bored people who want something to freak out over something. A month from now no one will care about any of this.

What do you mean by wealthy? a more accurate of measuring wealth is HDI = Human Development Index, which measures life expectancy, literacy, standards of living, education etc. Last time I checked South Korea wasn't ranked very high.

South Korea is still better off than the North.

I'm worried....maybe I should go into zombie mode and just watch tv..take mind off of this firestorm. All this fish and animals...something ain't right. Hopefully a month from now it calms down.

It's the NWO...you better start building your bunker.

Agreed. This has nothing to do with the other animal deaths...and any connection between those other cases seem weak.

Compared to North Korea in terms of standard of living and income....well, there is no comparison.

I hate that logic. Life is life is life. Whether you want to weigh the values of different lives in different manners is up to you (and we all do it), but don't act like being buried alive is no big deal.

My opinion? It surely sucks for those pigs, but the species is still going strong and there's not much I can do about it, so I'm not going to worry.

But the guy was never comparing South Korea to North Korea. He is also right about it not being a big deal.

Well, nothing happening in either Korea is that big a deal anyway.*

*I speak for myself, obviously.

********.

You can't compare the life of a human to a life of a pig.

I sure can. Both can end, and if I don't know them personally, it really has no effect other than "well, that surely sucks for them".
