Disney to bring Cinderella back in live action

I'd rather see a futuristic sleeping beauty film. Where she ends up being put into chryo sleep aboard a drifting ship and the "prince" has to rescue her during an alien invasion.

=P

That sounds like something the Sci-Fi Channel would make.

And if you've ever seen Tin Man or Alice, you know I'm not kidding.

It would only be bad if the Sci-Fi Channel made it. I could see that working as a film in the theatres with a good budget. Except change up the alien invasion to a smaller but still dangerous kind of threat.

Also, it wouldn't be called Sleeping Beauty but a movie based on that tale.

There's this one movie I have with Reese Witherspoon and Keifer Sutherland called Freeway. It was a modern kind of retelling of Little Red Riding Hood and was done pretty well. There was a sequel that was a modern redo of Hansel and Gretel but that movie is near impossible to find.

Wasn't this live action Cinderella kind of done already with that Enchanted movie?

Enchanted was really a combination of lots of the stories. The evil queen/dragon in the movie was ripped from Sleeping Beauty. There were little birds and mice cleaning up and dressing the princess (Cinderella). There were poison apples (Snow White). Overall, the movie was awesome.

I love Disney animation. I was pretty much raised on it and I have seen just about all of them many times. There are lots of stories that I think would be good in live action. The only problem would be deciding how serious the movies would be. For example, I would love a Disney live action Beauty and the Beast movie, but for me one of the best parts of the movie is how silly the villain (Gaston) is, and I would really want to keep that, up until the end when he needs to actually become menacing. Also, the only person with the build and ability to switch between a singing goofball and an imposing villain would be Dwayne Johnson for me.

Director Mark Romanek Departs CINDERELLA Picture

Director Mark Romanek (One Hour Photo) is starting to be known as much for his “dark” films as he is for exiting projects in development because of his “dark” takes. Add Cinderella to the latter, because Romanek and Disney have parted ways due to creative differences. Romanek was “too dark” for The Wolfman a few years ago and the pattern has repeated itself once again, with his take on Cinderella conflicting with the studio’s sensibilities. Deadline reports that Disney has already begun looking for a new director to helm a picture in which Cate Blanchett will play the evil step-mother. The search for a lead actress is currently still in process, with Saoirse Ronan, Gabrielle Wilde and Alicia Vikander reported as being of interest.

Cate Blanchett sounds the awesomest. And I hope Saorise Ronan will play the lead.

Also, pick a known actor for the prince this time, please. Listen, Hollywood!
Kevin Zegers if they go with an older, Freddie Highmore if they go with a younger.

THEY SHOULD GET THAT 'POOTS' GIRL since she is always losing out roles despite being on every studio's list for casting.

This is the second movie she dropped out of today. Damnit.

^she is still attached to del toro's beauty and the beast for now atleast

Now Disney's doing their own live action Beauty and the Beast! Ha!

I hope this is similar to the Disney animated film version. Disney's live-action film of Alice in Wonderland disappointed me.

Disney's Alice in Wonderland was flat out souless and awful. That's why we haven't heard crap about the sequel because they know (deep down) it wasn't good.

I know it seems that either they have no new ideas to create that their going back to the classic and now converting them to live action. This idea can go either way (A hit) or (Miss)

Oz, Alice & Snow White were hits overall, But Jack and the beanstalk, Peter Pan failed .

Honestly I don't think this Live Action re-makes will be as successful as Disney is expecting. Although I'd love to be proven wrong. Still I believe animation is unique and does a better job in storytelling and visuals than live motion action.

peter pan was 10 years ago and was released 4 days after return of the king:o

anyways the key imo is to make the films visually look very exciting oz and alice had very whimsical stylish style and family friendly tone while snow white had a very good visual style that was very big in lord of the rings/game of thrones esque fantasy

jack looked bland as all hell

After Oz's opening weekend Hollywood is not going to stop this trend. Now they may control the budgets a little more but when they smell money they ain't gonna give up easily.

It's like the young adult book trend, people can point out Beautiful Creatures and I Am Number Four's flopping until the cows come home but Hunger Games made nearly 700mil last year and Warm Bodies so far has made 90mil worldwide on a 30mil budget.

These trends ain't going anywhere that quickly.

Redoing fair tales and old stories is easy money: (Public domain, and instantly recognizable!)

It still sucked, But yes I get your point.

True, but how are you going to match all the awesome musical songs and I can't see you recreating the famous ballroom dance sequence with Belle & The Beast as good as it was done in animation. Not to mention the voice actors were really good in the roles.

Jack was garbage.

So I just heard that Disney is planning a live action Beauty and the Beast.

Edit.
