Animation Disney's 'Moana'

Let's see the Mouse reclaim its crown from the harasser's lamp studio. :o

I can believe it but I wonder how are they coming to that conclusion it’s not like tickets are being sold right now.

It's called tracking. And there's a lot of hype around the movie, so I'm not worried.

Remember this was the pilot to a potential series and Disney was like sequel. :o

seeing this tomorrow with my niece gonna be fun!

That’s a fairly deep drop off from the first.

Maybe the turn the tv series into a movie approach wasn’t the best.

The lack of Musker/Clements/Miranda probably doesn’t help either.

I’m still excited to see this however they should have gotten Miranda back for the music. The guy is just too talented.

Quantity of more time does not always translate into, the Quality of a better film.

A 70% on RT, with less than 100 reviews, for an animated film sounds underwhelming... and it could definitely go lower to rotten territory.

Given the fact he's doing other projects for them, I'm guessing it's a matter of time. The sudden shift from TV show to movie combined with other projects in that time frame just not giving as much time to work as he'd like.

I kind of expected this once it was announced that they were turning a series into a movie. Not bad but definitely worth waiting until it's on Disney+ for me.

Is this a musical?

Just got back. The movie is fine. Obviously can't touch the original, but it's super cute and it's going to please a lot of kids. It is very obviously a cobbled together first few episodes of a TV show. The pacing suffers because of it. Starts and stops, with a lot of calling back to the original, which you expect on a TV show continuation. It's really missing the epic heart of the first, though Auli'i is still amazing and definitely mines it for all it's worth. The movie looks big, but feels small. Which is why the big climatic moment does not feel earned. Wish it was a in a better movie.

Moana's crew is a fun concept, but the film is too short to introduce them, a intergroup conflict, and a resolution. It's the same with the entire film really. Not sure why what they're doing is happening in general.

The best part of the movie, is it's gayest. It's also the only good song of the film. Wanted more of that character. She felt like the only truly inspired part of the movie and she had chemistry with Maui and especially Moana.

To folks who think Lin is overrated, just watch this. The Rock's song is all time bad, and overall it feels like TV music. The only time the music reached the original, was the retread of the first film's main theme. There attempt at, "Into the Unknown" feels like a parody, taken seriously.

I thought it was hilarious that after seeing this and Wicked over the last 5 days, it was this one that got the crowd clapping at the end. Theater was packed. More then Friday. I think this is going to make a lot of money. And considering this movie feels more like an overall setup for another, that makes sense.
