I heard from a friend today that he read that Reed and Sue got divorced?! is this true? Jeez.

That's what I hear too. I'm not happy at all with the direction FF is taking.

That's a new one. Haven't heard it myself.

I think the only time they got even close to a "divorce" was in the earlier F4 comics and, even then, they didn't really divorce. They just went their seperate ways for awhile because Sue thought Reed was endangering their new son, Franklin (if memory serves me right).

Nothing close to that is going on now, though, and most certainly not a divorce.

Apparently, the upcoming issue delves into the strain on their relationship due to the "Civil War", but we'll have to wait and see what that means.

I think they will divorce. Sure it may not settle with some but i think it'll happen. Just look at cover for Civil War #6. Sue is on the cover and it looks like she's looking for Namor.

Ugh. Me being one of them.

Geez, if it does happen, I sure hope it doesn't last. Sue and Reed have been the longest standing comic couple in history. I'd hate to see it end, just because of this new "Civil War" storyline Marvel probably decided to come up with to boost comic sales. :P At least, that's my opinion anyway.

They've brought enough conflict into this, without having to tear apart the F4 as well. I sure hope it doesn't happen, or at least as I've said, doesn't last.

True they have been. But maybe it's not true and maybe it is. Not true being she still loves him and is just looking for Namor for something personal. Or true being that the FF get new members post Civil War. The second one sounds reliable.

Namor's always the rebound guy. You'd think that would piss him off. Well, I guess it has on occasions.

It's ok, cause after tommorow, there will be no 'Fantastic Four' until they fix it.

Ha, i would suppose so. But judging by the cover, Sue's looking for Namor for a reason.

Rumor? The broken Reed & Sue photo frame cover has been part of Marvel's publicity for months now.
And in the new issue of Civil War (out today, 9/20) Sue does leave Reed, and with good reason. I won't spoil it beyond that.

They will divorce, I'd wager. And then we're all in for several years of "will-they-or-won't-they get back together again?"

Divorce is easy to undo in the real world, unlike death, which they "undo" in comics all the time.
And if it actually makes the characters interesting again for a while, I'm all for it.

Some FF history:
Sue left Reed "back in the day" in issue #130 because he wanted to sideline her for both her and Franklin's safety.
(During her absence, Medusa took her place in the team.)
Reed was forced by a crisis situation to use a weapon to shut down Franklin's mind in FF#141. (Franklin's powers were about to go "critical mass" and destroy the solar system or something like that.) Things got real bad between Reed & Sue after that. Reed was soon served with divorce papers.
Sue appeared to fall for Namor finally in FF#147, but realized she still loved Reed and returned to him in FF#149. Franklin's artificial coma ended in #150 when his subconscious mind lashed out at the attacking Ultron V (or was it VI?) at the wedding of Quicksilver & Crystal.
And Sue formally returned to the team in FF #159.
:ff:

Well we assume reed is truely in the right state of mind. I mean given what he's doing in civil war 4, reed must be under mind control.

Yeah, thats exactly what I was trying to say. :word:

oh no! somethings going to change! change is always bad, it's never been good, EVER! I won't even read how it's done, because I already know it's going to be the worst thing ever, and marvel is ruining F4 FOREVER! F**K YOU QUESADA!!!!:cmad:!!!!!

Eh, as stated before, Sue and Reed have parted ways before. Other heroes have replaced them here and there, but it's never lasted for long.

If this rumor about divorce is indeed true, then I can't seriously see it lasting forever.

If it does, well, then I can only say that at that point I'm not going to be happy. But I'll wait it out and see what happens, before approving or disapproving of the whole thing.

Ok, let's say they are getting a divoce...

I am interested in knowing how their assets will be divided, and who will get custody of Frank Richards.

I am guessing...

Reed will get the Four Freedom Plaza, the Fantasticar, most of his inventions, and portal to the Negative Zone.
Sue will get Frank Richards, FantastiRocket...

Namor will be waiting outside the Attorney's office...

Sue actually left the kids with Reed, pleading in the letter she left to pay them the attention they deserve that he's never shown them. She seems fine with just walking totally away from it all.

^^ Sue left the kids cause she knows she has to come back. She is forcing Reed to fix civil war. Reed is not acting like Reed at all in this series. i put it up to writers mishandling the character but cloning Thor? this is weird, and did you see how Iron Man beat down on Cap. i enjoyed that by the way. that scene was delicious.

I am looking for the Cap/Iron Man rematch. Something tells me there will be one and the results will be different.

Reed is acting so far out of character he is either under some kind of mind control or the writers are just insulting our intelligence (wouldn't be the first time this has happened though...'Sins past' anyone?).

That's what worries me the most about where this might lead. Before all this Namor has been someone Sue was attracted to, but she got over that infatuation realising Reed was the only man she really loved: Namor would always be a close friend but never a lover.
But with JMS having a hand in this story, and going on his past record of forever tainting a characters basic morality for no good reason (and generally trying to re-write characters histories so his own mark is forever stamped on them), I wouldn't be surprised at all if Namor and Sue do have an affair during this latest break-up.

Sad thing is the books would probably sell all the better for that, however cliched a soap opera twist it may be, and in Marvel's eyes such a sh#tty event would then be justified.

A mother leaving her kids??

That's what I thought at first.
But she and Johnny are joining Cap's underground forces, which would be a far more dangerous setting for the kids.
Really, Sue should just be opting out of the whole Civil War nonsense, like Ben has chosen. She has her children's welfare to think of, and I wouldn't say Reed is a fit father right now.
So her decisions and actions are definitely a problem.
Of course this is the same writer that has self-proclaimed patriot Benjamin J. Grimm announcing he's moving to gay Pari til things settle down.
These two things just show that JMS has NEVER understood the characters and I for one am glad he's leaving.

No one can say I didn't give him a fair shot. I think he blew it, though. Big time.

Gah. I hated the line that was in Civil War #6 were Namor talked about hearing her heart beating through the water. Reed needs to act like a man and smack Namor around to win Sue back. Unless he's already done that twice or so, seeing as everything gets reused in the end.
