I was on the bus today and it was very hot so asked the bus driver if the AC was busted or what because it was hot as f***. He seemed to get personally offended even though it wasn't directed at him and said I didn't have to talk to him like that. He doesn't look like he is all that much older than. I just don't see how a grown ass man can be a punk about curse words. I use curse words all the time, I cuss like a sailor because I was a sailor. I don't do it around little kids or old ladies or anything like that but can't understand why anyone would care otherwise. How do you Hypesters feel about curse words?

I'm fine with them as long as they don't influence the younger kids to use them. People just saying '**** this' and '**** that' and calling each other ******* for no reason annoys me a bit though.

It doesn't offend me. But excessive cursing is a bit annoying. Like you are talking to me and 50% of those words are curses, I'm thinking "Damn, dude."

the actual words don't bother me (i use most my self regularly) it's all about time / place and the context in which it is used that can get to me

They don't offend me personally, but if there are children within earshot....or parents cussing at their kids, then that bothers me. But, for me "personally"? Unless you are calling me something, and you are just being rude, then I'll take care of that myself.

I don't give a ****, but I still don't use those words when I talk to a complete stranger. That's just how I roll subconsciously. I'm talking about real life strangers. On the internet, all bets are off.

I really love the word f***. It is probably the most versatile word in the English language haha

It doesn't offend me. People who curse a lot in public come off as tryhards though.

I don't really care if I'm the only one around or there are only other adults around. However, if I'm with my kids I don't need them hearing those words.

Cartman: What's the big deal? It doesn't hurt anybody. **** **** ity **** **** **** .

:woot:

Kids use expletives all the time, just not when adults are around. They know those words.

That said, I wouldn't scream and cuss at my child because it's extremely intimidating.

It doesn't offend me at all. I cuss all the time in real life. Luckily, my co-workers are used to it and don't seem offended. I reduce the cussing when I see my parents though.

I find that Americans tend to view cursing rather differently.

Words that are commonly used in any circumstance in Europe are frowned upon here. Like ****. Or ****. Well, **** is considered slightly colorful, but here it shocks people just to hear it spoken in like an office.

I think it approaches ridiculous levels on television. It becomes rather ludicrous considering how violent American television can be, but the newscasters can't say certain words that are in police reports. But they can freely show people being gunned down. I think that's fascinating, and I am sure some psychologists have written or are writing books about that.

The fact that it gets censored on this forum is also silly.

The censors are still living in the 50's.

My mom always use to say... "People that use a lot of profanity in their daily conversation are just showing their lack of educated vocabulary". I always remember that before I'm about to let profanity fly. I don't like hearing people use profanity "at" people, and I don't use it in that manner. Usually a word will fly if I screw up on something.... :/

I know that lots of kids use profanity, but that doesn't mean that they should, it just means that it is probably used a lot at home and they have picked it up. I don't remember ever hearing my mother use profanity, my father on the other hand was a different story.

yeah! that ^&*( offends the %^&*( outta my ^&*(^&*( ass !
:cwink:

Yeah, I find it weird when kids do it. I didn't start doing it until my very late teens. I find 12-year-olds swearing or just generally acting like adults to be very awkward and disquieting, sort of like fish flopping around on dry land.

Without the F word I would barely be able to communicate.

I am not sure if my first English word was **** or ****.

Probably ****. But it may have been ****.

My grandpa used to say something very similar, loved that guy. He was wise beyond his years

It's childish. The news is intended for adults, yet they can't say ****. Who are they trying to protect exactly?

Another stupid thing is bleeping. Or saying the F-word or N-word instead of ****. Everyone knows what you're talking about, so why not come out and say it?

That's why I preferred Colbert and Stewart, even thought they got censored they still got the point across.

Offend? No.
Annoy? Yeah, when used too much, or in places I think don't deserve it.

"Annoying as f###", especially in an instant followed by "good as f###" is one instant I think it's annoying. So you like 'f***' or hate it?

Annoying as **** sounds way better than any other combination with "annoying". It gets the point across perfectly.
