Do i need to see Nightwatch to understand Daywatch ?

    I really like the look of Daywatch and it's just been released here but i don't fancy watching Nightwatch, so will i be able to follow Daywatch without seeing it ?

    I watched Nightwatch and thought It was really good . This is a trilogy and I would think you would have to see Nightwatch to understand the backstory of the characters. I did get lost with Daywatch and I am confused about certain things .
