Yes we need Halle and Hugh. Yes, the franchise would die out without Storm and Wolverine.

Storm and Wolverine have been established as the central core of the films (along with Jean and Cyclops), and you can't change change up the central core that the movies revolve around and expect it to work. This isn't the comics.

Dont need them but I want them. More Halle then Hugh though... Wolverine doesnt need to take over the entire movie for a 4th time in a row though. Give everyone else some development. Like say let Anna do some work instead of just making her stand around making stupid decisions.

There is a way to make a film about a team... they just have to figure out how to balance everything. I think Wolverine ahs run his course for the X-films... and wouldn't mind if he left them team for one film... getting replaced by a fan favorite almost as big as he is...

If a well balanced story was written in X1 and continued that way, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

For X4 to work they have to be in it. Or else they get added to the list of unexplained dissappearences.

I'd be okay if Wolverine made a cameo in X4. What i'd like is if he was only in a few key scenes in terms of the events in the storyline. he could be in the action scenes. pop up in a few emotional key scenes and disappear for most of the story and then show up at the battle with the X-Men. This reminds me of TAS wolverine in the Phoenix/Dark Phoenix saga. but anyway... yeah.

Same could be applied to Storm. I'd like to see the young kids in their prime. Kitty, Iceman, rogue... etc...

Personally if I was just a casual fan and had seen the past three movies with these core characters (Prof. X, Cyclops, Storm, Jean, Wolverine) getting completely wiped off the face of the franchise I'd be confused but probably turned off more then anything. These are the characters that have grown the most in the films, these are the stars. To take them away and start with a new group would be like making a new unrelated movie without the support of the previous films. Sure Rogue was developed a lot but who else? One of the reasons that the X-Men was a success was because the central characters were the most popular, who could we say that about in a new spinoff..Rogue and Gambit would probably be the peak of that movie. I just can't see it at all working..

I wouldn't mind if Hugh and Halle returned as long as their roles were much smaller.Its time for others characters to get their moment to shine..

The way X3 ended you couldn't really do it without Halle thats for sure.

I agree with Retro ... but I dont see that being the case. I highly doubt either would be willing to take a cut in screen time... that would mean a cut in pay as well.

I definitely want Famke and James back though... time to let others be the main focus.

I think they should let the younger cast take over. It would be alright if they let hugh and halle have a small part but its time to let go on wolverine and storm and let someone else shine.

Younger cast would be great, but if push comes to shove, keep Hugh. I like him as Wolvie, but Fox can just cut his screen time, just a little bit.
