Instead of giving Hs's smaller film time, how about firing Penn and Kinberg and getting writters who can write a ESSEMBLE CAST. Something that gives all players an equal part in the storyline that's not all about one person's unatainable crap.

I dont know if that is possible with such a large cast, there will always be central characters and those that are on the back burner, however I do think it could have been handled much better than what we got.

Amen.

Even the Storm fans and Halle fans wouldn't want her in every scene.
 Storm has never been in every scene. She has never had an important role. Why would they think she was in all the scenes?

Show her teaching the kids, talking about her origins and how it affected her, how she came to the US to find a land of hatred and prejudice...how she chose to join Xavier's side and fight for peaceful co-existence...

Show her using her powers in creative and subtle ways - more than lightning and fog... like increasing air pressure to explode a building or decreasing it to thin the air and create a vacuum, creating a micro-monsoon to water her plants...

And that's about it!
Great Goddess of Africa! Great descriptions! :) Us Storm fans don't wanna see no lightning all the damn time, have you ever heard of change people?! It's a shame she did the same things in the previous movies. No rain, no nothing. We could at least got a "I am Phoenix!" from Jean, or a "Goddess!" by Storm. When she found Jean would have been the perfect time to say that too.

This franchise needs to be able to survive without any one individual person. Otherwise it's future is very limited/already over. :(

It's not only that we need Halle and Hugh, because of their marketablity to the outsiders with no connection to the comics, but we also need their respectable characters.

Point is, Storm and Wolverine are the most famous X-Men to outsiders. PERIOD. Whereas mutants like Jean Grey? They've only gained their immense popularity with the outsiders because of her increased and more important presence than Storm or any other X-Woman in the movies.

We need them to do at least X4, but no in the same way as X3, I mean, not with the biggest roles, the youngest need their momment now, it's their time! No more Logan as the STAR, please.

Now, more Rogue, Angel and Gambit as the main new one.

I vote Aunjanue Ellis as the next Storm. And hopefully an Ororo truer to her African Roots.

Unfortunately, I think this is what has already happened. :( Maybe if things were done differently from the beginning, it could've been different, but I know that FOX is pretty much thinking an X4 isn't possible w/o Hugh or Halle...and Jean/Scott are 'dead' as far as we know...it's all screwed up :o They put the most mainstream, popular X-Men in the first film, and where do you go after they're gone? This is the problem I think they're facing. Also remember that 'The Last Stand' was a title FOX gave this film. The script was written before that title was created, and it's obvious this script wasn't really supposed to be 'the last stand'.

Honestly after X1, X2, X3, and Wolverine I doubt Hugh will return to the role again unless it's for Wolverine 2, etc? He's played this character for a long while now, and career wise he'll likely move on after the Wolverine film(s).

I do see the young team spin-off happening though. With Storm (maybe) running the school...Halle has expressed interest in returning, so that seems possible. Still, it won't be an X4...imo :(

Maybe after the spin-off films, they should reboot the franchise in the far off future?

^I think that's a good assessment, ant.

I voted for needing Halle only, because I think it's the only realistic way forward. It's not ideal, but after putting so many of the other characters out of action there aren't many options. Hugh's looking far too busy over the next few years to consider a retread.

Yes we need them. The movies wouldn't have been the same without them.

we need the old ones, i think you can drop halle, but most keep hugh, without hugh all that plot wolverine/jean/cyclops wont be the same seeing how the chemistry is the start there.

I still think having the veterans there would be a good touch...though from the course of X1 to X2 the youngins, Bobby stepped up, as did Rogue and Pyro, and then in X3 Kitty too had a bigger role. I would still keep Wolvie and Storm etc. around on some level, but they need not necessarily be the driving force behind X4. I say pick a few, give 'em more depth. Youngins? Bobby, Rogue, Kitty, Angel? Colossus? oh and do something with Beast...it would be ridiculous to introduce him in X3 and then have him marginally involved in the next movie, it's like, what's the point?

That's what they did with NightCrawler. Where did he go?

^^ True. Didn't he get offered a part so minimal in X3, that he opted out cuz it would be a waste of time or something? Definitely. Nightcrawler would have been good too to see deal with the possibility of a cure.

I can't speak for Penn and Kinberg, but I'm certainly going to adress this kind of stuff. I'm working on a scene where Worthington Labs as part of its PR campaign puts out those really cheesy happy-life informercials showing testimony from mutants after they have been cured and how much happier and better life is for them, yadda yadda yadda. And watching this informercial at the mansion sitting together are going to be the three chars who would be the most affected by this: Rogue, Beast, and NightCrawler and express how they feel about it.

That's a good call. Also, maybe throw in other ppl's opinions (Storm: There's nothing wrong with any of us), which is easy for them to say considering they have great powers and no real physical anomalies. Prolly should have been more discussions/debates of the sort in the movie; Rogue didn't really get to actually voice an opinion. Put her at odds with Bobby, lol. Good ideas tho, looking forward to reading it!

It wouldn't be a stretch to have mention of Logan leaving the mansion as a reason for his absence in the next x-film. Storm kind of needs to be in it for continuity purposes, so I'm saying keep Halle, but I'd still like the younger x-men to step into the limelight.

I want Halle out...keep just Hugh.

we need to keep them both, they made the xmen movies more mainstream...
If there was an X4 without them, the box office total would drop considerably!

Without box office consideration, I still think we need both. Something about Logan having so much focus in the first two, then none in the 4th? I dunno. Even if he's more of a "background" figure in the 4th, allowing the youngins to step up a bit, but I agree with Drago, continuity is important
