Do You Have Any Truly Bizarre Phobias

I developed a phobia of people answering their phones while working as a telemarketer for one day.

I have a weird phobia. I'm not sure that it actually is a phobia. I am afraid to vacuum the house when I am alone.

:o

It was more because people were such a-holes over the phone than because I felt I was doing anything wrong. Someone buys a ticket to go see a show and gives their phone number. We let them know we've got more shows for them to see. They treat us like crap. Therein lies my phobia.

Still, it's unusual to learn of telemarketers who are afraid of the telemarketed. It's often the other way round.

I have this phobia about being tortured. Watching movies, reading stories and the like of people who are captured as POWs and are horrifically tortured scares the living daylights out of me. Movies like Hostel, Saw and all the rest don't really improve my phobia. I don't know if this is a commonly shared phobia such as fear of heights or fear of the dark... but it terrifies me.

The deep end of a swimming pool, say, 10 feet deep. Now, I know that it's a pool and there's absolutely no way can there be anything down there, but the fear of the possibility that something unnatural was gonna yank me down scares the bejeebers out of me.

Now that you mention this that brings to mind something else that frightens me. Like swimming in a river or the ocean and when there is seaweed or grass at the bottom I am absolutely terrified to touch it...I'm afraid something unpleasent is living there...

Torture as in being captured by your enemy and being subjected to physical and emotional duress in order for them to get information out of you... Landolph.

I'm pretty sure you share that phobia with 6 billion other people...

Probably, but its not something that you commonly hear people say. Not like, "Oh, I'm scared of snakes/spiders/the dark/heights/clowns/JAL".

Do you have valuable information knowsbleed?

I shouldn't laugh but some of the phobias are hilarious! thought i should share mine. Although i'm not anywhere near as badly effected now as i use to be in highschool. I have a mild phobia of those little packets of tomato sauce (or as you call them for no adequately explained reason "Ketchup")

I can stand different types of packets more than others. I'm not keen on the packet sachet's but i can hold them without a problem. The tubs with a white base i'm okay with. But i'm absolutely disgusted by the clear bottomed tubs. They're Gross! Seriously, who would create something so foul!

funnily enough i'm absolutely fine with bottles of sauce.

Hence you don't really know me so your hencing is based on assumption... hence you and Landolph can be ass buddies.
Uhmm.. okay. I don't know about you but I'm sorry to say that I really don't know anyone else in my circle who aren't afraid of "torture as in being captured by your enemy and being subjected to physical and emotional duress in order for them to get information out of you".

Ketchup does not + tomato sauce. Ketchup is tomato sauce with several other ingredients, including corn syrup, sugar, salt, vinegar, and others. If you tried to dip your fries in tomato sauce, as used on spaghetti, it would be disgusting. And if you tried to make a pizza with ketchup, it would also be disgusting.

Well I had nothing else to add okay! :cmad:

Its my only real phobia that I dread. I have nightmares about it all the time. But I'm pretty sure that if you go up to a person and ask them what their phobia is... they won't say torture. It might be something everyone fears when the subject is brought up... but its different when its something you actually fear like the dark.

I have a really strange one about things that are massive: Like big flags on the side of a building, or standing next to massive cinema screens. You know, really big things. They creep me out. There's a really really big advertising space on the side of a building near my work - it gives me shivers. I hate it, no matter what it's advertising. It's just too big. I don't mind big things that are supposed to be big - buildings and towers and stuff, and I'm not scared of heights. I just don't like things that could be smaller that are really really big. I don't know how else to put it. :o

Try'n go easy on the penis and fat-girl jokes, eh ;)

Sooo... that gigantic poster of that fat hermaphrodite I've been wanting to put up next to your house is a no go? :csad:

Really? Wow, I never realised it was that bad for you. I'm sorry. I understand now what you mean. Sorry for being an ass. I didn't mean to trivialise it.
