PART ONE - Broken Bat
PART TWO - Who Rules The Night
PART THREE - Knightsend

I just bought all three, and I'm about 60 pages into ''Broken Bat'' and I think it's pretty groundbreaking, considering it was 1993. I really like the Bane angle, and how he releases Arkham.

I haven't gotten to the meat of it yet... Like Jean-Paul becoming Batman, but that's why I must ask: Is it good in your eyes? Did you like it? Or was the fact that Bruce was replaced as Batman settle with you the wrong way?
I personally like it because it's different, and original.

Thoughts?

Broken Bat is great,
Who Rules the Night is good.
Knightsend is just boring.

Broken Bat and Who rules the night were my favs. Wasn't too keen on Knightsend much.

Broken Bat is particularly good. Each encounter with the Arkham escapees wearing Batman down, while Bane watches with pleasure.

It's great.

It's what made big epic crossover storylines, now every summer batman has a big one but this started it all. I loved it when I was a kid.I like everything about bane (never had a good chance at being the best villain ever in a movie) and I know why batman picked paul but the ending was a lil weak. but one of the best stories from batman ever

Nope, never really cared for it.

I've always thought the entire Bane Saga should be retold in a limited series. It's a bunch of great ideas in a shiitty presentation, but I guess it was a product of it's time.

Yes Broken Bat stands out though.

I haven't gotten around to reading them yet, but I bought the series a while ago in the assumption that there's a Rocky-style rehabilitation/training montage somwhere; likely Knightsend.
Please tell me I'm right.

I never read it but I read that on the Wikipedia,
Bane breaks Batman's back and Azrael puts on the Batsuit.

Well, Knightquest (The Crusade & The Search) was never collected as a tpb, but he is basically (as far as i remember) healed by Shondra Kinsolving's love (!!, she is a kind of telepath). Then he starts to train with Lady Shiva.

The trades are okay, but the real standout in Denny O'Niel's superb adaptation for the "Knightfall" novel.

I dig all three parts of it. I remember buying Knightfall and KnightsEnd off the racks back then. :o

I remember me and a bunch of people surrounding the issue where Batman's back is broken, it was the ultimate "Holy *****" moment.

i love all three and was always kind of hoping to see a movie trilogy some day, maybe animated?

have it all in single issues, a great arc...also, Jean-Paul had the most bad ass outfit EVER while he was Batman :o

Jean-Paul is teh awesome. AzBatz is the Batman I grew up with. I love how he thinks he has to get grittier as THE Batman, how he drives himself to be greater than Batman (Bruce Wayne), and how he keeps upgrading his suit.

Brutal.

I thought it was pretty good actually, I own the single issues (found them at a local comic store.)

Possibly my favorite Batman story arc, actually. I consider it one of Batman's top three defining stories. It totally redefines Batman for those who'd lost sight of who he is. And it also proves why the burdon of the Bat is something that only Bruce Wayne can really handle, as Paul goes mad due to the pressure (among other things).

Read it, you won't be sorry. The only people who dislike it tend to be the ones who misjudge it and assume that DC actually was trying to kill off Bruce. I never for a second thought that. Bruce was always going to come back.

Bane is probably Batman's greatest nemesis. He deduced Bruce's identity, he came up with a brilliant plan to wear Bruce down.... Honestly, Bane is so underrated, it's not even funny.

Knightfall is an essential Batman read.
Once you've read it you have a good idea about Bruce's stamina and drive. After Knightfall he toned down quite a bit and listened more to those around him.

I would like to see a new adaption of Knightfall by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale.
I know that'll never happen but right now I can just envision the art..:yay:

Ooh....that would be SWEET.

Yeah, Broken Bat is really good, Who Rules the Night was also really good....Knightsend was OK. The ending in particular was a trifle disappointing. But overall...Bane's a badass. Good stuff.

Which was really lazy, "Oh, I'll just.. y'know.. follow him home." It made every other villian and citizen of Gotham look ******ed. Baaad.

Knightfall was an event. I remember each week there being a line at the comic shop, everyone waiting to get the newest issue of the crossover. I mean, they were doing second printings almost as soon as the first shipped for crying out loud! Great art, great story. This should definitely be in everyones collection.

I liked it, surprisingly, my favorite part is when Bruce is fighting the....I think six martial artists that think he killed their sensi, and trying to get back into the swing of things.

I have to admit that would be a pretty cool thing. Maybe the two can get together in the future and bust out a series where they visit certain points of Batman's continuity and redo stories or something. Sort of like an Untold Tales of The Batman deal.

But, yeah, just seeing Sale's artwork would be awesome to the tenth power.
