This is a bit redundant, as i don´t believe anyone does it to every game, but, do you do it?

For example:
I´m playing Force Unleashed because, not only i didn´t played it before; the sequel is coming.
The same goes to StarCraft.
I´m playing Brood War (i played the original as well) because i didn´t played the expansion before and StarCraft II right around the corner.

And then there are the games i didn´t played the first one, but i plan to buy them and finish them before the sequel comes out: Dead Space (yeah, i know :() and Red Faction Guerilla being two from the top of my head.
Dragon Age is another (the sad part is that i love Bioware).

And then there are games i replayed..
I did it in 2007, i played God of War before God of War II came out; the same with Halo on the PC and Halo 2 on the 360 before Halo 3.
I did it last Dezember, i replayed Mass Effect before the sequel.
And those are the ones i remember.

It depends, if its an action game, like Gears of War, I'll play the previous one, if I've forgotten about some story elements. Fighting games, I'll play the previous title just to brush up on combos, infinites, etc.

The only Game I've done is MGS4.I played MGS1-3 and even Portable Ops.It was actually quite fun.

It depends on the series or game. Like venom892, i played through all the previous Metal Gear games in preparation for MGS4, but like i didn't play through Mass Effect again in prep for Mass Effect 2.

hmm I only did so with mass effect cause it was sort of requiered and I didn't have to work as much as my buddies the just bought mass effect 2 I got so I alwys had accest to my paragon chose from the prvious game. and i didn't lose any of my crew members that way.

I still might play the game if i feel I was to know the story abit. and see how good the game is.
but i don't always. I guess it depends.

Depends on the game. If I liked the previous one and it was short, probably. Take AC1. It's ok but very tedious to play through.

depends. the first Mass Effect was eh so when I was getting the second, i decided NOT to play the first. However, with GTA IV and MGS4 i played the first ones because the games that came before those were amazing and fun.

If it's a game in a series I like, yes. Especially if it's a continuing story. I do the same when reading a book series, or listening to the studio albums of bands I like.

Well i mean i played ME before ME2, but i played through ME when it first released. I didnt go back and play it again right before the 2nd game came out. But i played through Uncharted: Drakes Fortune before Among Thieves came out. Played through the Metal Gear series before 4 came out, played through God of War 1 and 2 before 3 came out.

The day ME2 came out I played ME from beginning to end, doing as many side missions as I could.

I started at like 9 in the morning, and finished at 5 in the evening. As soon as the credits were over, I popped in ME2... it made the intro so much more amazing.

I'm gonna have to take 36 hours before ME3 to play through both again hahah.

GOW I & II do not need specific reasons to be played again, due to there obvious mastery of amazing, but i did before GOW III for fun.

Depends on the game.

I replayed Super Mario Galaxy in preperation for SMG2.

I'll replay The Force Unleashed a bit before TFU2 comes out.

I'm currently working my way through the Metroid Prime Trilogy in expectation of Other M.

I tend to do that.
I did for the Spider-Man games, God of War games and probably some others.

I did it for Mass Effect and Dead Space

I got Kane and Lynch because the sequel was awesome, and that turned out to be a pretty underrated game.

A few sequels have been my fist in the series: Condemned 2, Onimusha 3, Twisted Metal World Tour, Crash Bandicoot 2, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, Assassin's Creed 2.

I guess stuff like Super Metroid and Mega Man 2 don't really count.

I know they don't go together but I replay Final Fantasy VII before I start a new Final FAntasy. I had to do the with FFXIII. It sat in it's box for a week before I played it. I also did that for Devil May Cry 4.

If the game is a direct sequel then I try, but if previous games arent needed then I dont. For example, I didnt play any of the old Ratchet games before the PS3 titles. I want to play Peace Walker now but wont till I play though Portable Ops

Of course! I played AC before AC2, SW:TFU- I know I'll play that one again.

And of course, I'll get into some multiplayer on Halo 3 in preparation for Halo Reach.

I have no problem replaying Batman:AA. That's just numerous hours of fun.:awesome:

Not really. I only really want to buy the sequel if I enjoyed the original.
