I wanna tackle the subject of the phrase "owned" again, I can't remember what happpened to my last thread oh so long ago.

So, the phrase "owned". The proper use of the word in the English language would be "I once owned a car, it was nice". But the word has been turned into something quite sinister and perverted! This first happened, I imagine, on online gaming and message boards. Say you get a headshot, it is customery for you to type in the talking box thing "OWN3D OWN3D OWNED NEWB!!". In message boards, someone gets called gay, the next guy should correctly say owned.

And so it passes along, person to person, message board to message board, until suddenly it litters the Internet like a big fat steaming pile of ****. And then, what inevitabely happens when a very bad joke is repeated and repeated and repeated... people start saying it ironically. People, irony doesn't work very well on the Internet. If you say OWN3ED TO DA MAX!!, people WILL think you are serious.

The biggest insult of all, is when this bastardization of the English language actually passes into actual conversation. You know, people talking in real life. There's this loser called Stephen. He says owned quite alot in actual conversation. Just throws it in there like it's the most natural thing in the world. I met a guy at an online gaming place, he too kept throwing the word owned into conversation. "I was talking to some guy and I OWNED him!!". Jesus! I hate people! I wonder if he noticed me rolling my eyes?

Why keep repeating a bad joke? Kill this thing already!

Troll thread for attention

No... you're post is the definition of trolling. When you come in and just insult the original poster and attempt to derail the thread and annoy? Yeah, that's trolling.

If you really think I'm a troll just put me on ignore or don't talk to me. Go do something better with your day.

The phrase that really has started bothering me of late is "Bling Bling" which thankfully has gotten shortened to "Bling". However, how the blue blazes did this one get started. Your car doesn't have enough "Bling" so we'll "Pimp" your ride...

Bling is old where the hell have you been?! I think Kriss Kross started saying this way back in the 90s

edit: ok so it wasn't Kriss Kross but I do remember hearing it back then. ( i was 11 and thuggin it)

I'm Canadian and it's only been since we started getting those Californian auto programs "Pimp My Ride" and such we've been tormented with this phrase all over the place. The auto shows have really started over-using this phrase in the last 2 years.

Hey wait they have Internet in Canada??!?! Since when?!

The thing that always makes me laugh about "Pimp My Ride"'s name is that it makes me think they're charging guys to have sex with their cars.

I totally get the beard joke but the funny part is, you're so right. Hahahaha. :( I like to handle my business from a distance. No point in getting up close for melee when you can shoot from far away.

You are like an open book, my war-weathered friend.
