The reason I ask is because they are new characters and usually new characters created for a specific project are more likely to die than classic/main characters.
First Jason. While I'm not sure how much I like the idea of Superman having a son, it made for a good story in this film. However, it's hard to say where they can go from here, and Jason's death at the hands of someone like Darkseid would make for a incredibley dramatic, intense climactic fight scene.
Now Richard. Short of making him a super villian, or a wife/girlfriend beater, I don't know how the writers can make it satisfying for the audience to see Clark and Lois hook up at his expense. I hope they don't go that route though. It was refreshing to see the opposite of a protagonist in a love triangle not be a straight up jerk. I like his character, but I think the best way to bring Supes and Lois together is to kill him off in the 2nd film and bring the inevitable lovers together in a 3rd.

Well, I have to admit I have not read or followed the comic for some time, but when I realized that Jason was SM's son I was shocked. There are a lot of unanswered questions. But to address your question, no one will die. Not yet at least. I think Richard is being set up to become a villain. I think that Jason is presented to create future situations with kidnappings or attempts to murder him. Jason is also a way to carry on the tradition of SM, for SM will die. I think this is interesting but it could be very convuluted if the next sequel does not tie things up.
