Superman Returns: its plot is new and never happened in the comics and that difference is very much expected to rreach its climax. So what we wanna know is: what of these candidate endings do you believe will most likely happen at the end of SR?

1) Lois and Richard realize Lois 100% loves Superman and will always will. So Richard and Jason leave Lois, but will still come back since she still raised Jason. Thus giving Lois and Superman a new beginning in their relationship.

2) Richard knows, so does Lois, that she loves Superman and always will. So he decides Superman raising Jason as his new father is best (since Richard is a human version of Superman and Superman is....SUPERMAN) thus giving Superman a role of a father figure and a family.

3) Richard dies and Lois and Jason is still heartbroken. Lois wonders if Superman and her can ever be back togetehr liek before and Superman says that he'll always be there for her once she's ready to continue on.

4) Richard and Lois, including Jason, are still together at the end. They owe everything for Superman due to the fight with Luthor and Lois still loves Superman. Not wanting to destroy, but still be part, Superman decides to be guardian of the family as, in many ways, he is part of.

Which do you think will most likely happen?

I've already settled on the idea of Dick dying as the best way to handle this whole relationship deal.

so 3 for me please.

I have a mix between 2 and 4. I think Richard stays with Lois, but I also think the kid is Supermans.

All I know is that the damn kid better die.

I think the point of Supes leaving is because he is alone in the world. He can't have friends (in the real sense), can't have a family, and basically anything that makes life worth living. He sacrifices all of that to protect and guide the world. That's what makes him special. He thinks of others before himself.

I choose #4. Plus, Lois coming to understand what I said above would lead into the
"why the world needs superman" article.
A guy who gives and gives but never gets what he truly needs (not wants, needs). She could come to undertsand what he is about better. People see him as a "god" not a man with feelings and emotions. No one understands what he gives up to be Superman.

I would also like to see a scene where Clark has a convo with his father (at his grave) about Jason. Getting really emotional. Not in the whinny Peter Parker way, but just expressing that he has a son and how he can never be there for him in the way his (Clark) father was there for him (remind the audience of how important Jonathon's relationship was to Clark). I'm sure a family is something Clark has always wanted, but never thought he could have. That would tear him up inside. Can he tear apart Lois/Richard/Jason for his own selfish reasons? He did leave on his own free will. And on top of that his duty and responsibility is far greater then one person. It's a real conflict. As Singer said, a problem he can't punch away.

It would also reflect on his life. His parents gave him up and he was raised by a loving faimly even though they weren't his biological parents (as I believe Richard isn't Jason's). Maybe things a better satus quo, and the sequels can expore this love triangle even further.

From what I heard of the novel, I believe the likely answer is #4.

Its too soon in the franchaise for the hero to get the girl anyways, possibly the sequel.

All we can really count on is somewhat of a happy ending, since we will probably see the "smile at the audience" at the end of the film.

i hope we see the reeve style flying over the planet then smiling before he flys off like in the other movies with john williams theme playing in the background.
that'd be the best way to end things in this movie.
and in the next one bring on a powered rogue....i'd personally like to see darkseid.

how about this:

Superman gets Lois
Richard bumps his head, realizes his real name was Scott Summers and goes back to his waiting girlfriend Jean Grey
and Jason can go build a big boat and sail away

;)

Voted for Superman being alone at the end.

I have interest about his relationahips with Lois in sequel.

At the end, Lois and Richard get married although the kid is Superman's, and they have to go to court to decide custody and stuff. It gets violent like a Jerry Springer episode. Superman gets mad, flies real fast and reverses time all the way back to Jason's conception. This time he simply tells Lois he has a headache and flies away.

Niether..I think supes will understand that they are happy.. he will smile and we will see the flight above earth and then the smile at the camera then we will lead off to new krypton in space..where something awakes...then superman march.

What i think it will happen?
Richard leaves/dies; Superman+Lois with Supes being father to Jason

But, IMO, that´s stupid.
What´s the point in having Lois having a boyfriend/husband, just to kill him at the end?
That, in my book, it´s called forced drama.

So, what i think it should happen?
Lois+Richard; Superman guardian , but with Lois+Richard relationship not being that stable.

But, what do i know?
I think that Richard and Jason are just lousy characters, and, once again, fall into the forced drama category

jason gets crushed under the daily planet edifice

"is he aware.......his daughter...is still alive"

Some part of me wants Lois & Supes back together. But I undersrand the selection most people took.

Eventually SUpes and lois will be together, but when you really think about it she doesnt know him all that well. Jason is probably supes kid. But of course they wont let lois and supes be together until the sequel or possibly the next one after. So richard+lois+jason. with supes guarding over them, knowing that the kid is his.

The first 3 options wouldn't work well for a sequel guys.

I'm hoping for the last one. I'd like to see Supes hook up with Wonder Woman like in Kingdom Come. It just seems better on paper.:)

I'd love to see this.

I just think that ending #4 is too Spider-Man angsty you know??

I personally hope for #1, kind of.

I’d like to see Richard and the kid go away, but Lois, having been a bit traumatized/ jaded by the whole situation believes SHE needs to be alone for a while, despite her love for Superman. Thus creating an awkwardness in the Supes/Lois realtionship to be worked out in sequels.

I think ending #4 would probably be like the feeling at the end of Castaway, you know. You see Supes go through all these trials and tribulations only to find that his woman has moved on into a situation that he can't remotely begin to combat. But if he finally moves on, then it could still be a happy ending of sorts. Besides, at the end of Castaway, Hanks met up with a foxy redhead. Maybe at the end of SR Supes can just hook up with Lana Lang (who also meets the foxy redhead requirements).;)
