Do you think one day (say 40 years) something else will replace the internet?

Of course. I'm thinking some sort of virtual reality in the future.

It depends on if we hit a wall of capability. I guess the next step would be inserting imagery straight into the brain  Could happen :o

Unless it's like a holodeck for VR I don't see people wanting to get all geared up just to go online. I imagine it'll continue like this but with easier interfaces, potentially leading up to cerebral interfaces.

its an ultra-real environment with streaming vitamin D supplements and a full fresh air supply. its called "the outdoors"

I imagine some sort of wireless neural network you can tap into at any time with your brain. At first with some sort of device on your head. Then your brain will just be modified to be able to psychically connect.

Something like this.

Ghost in the Shell, and hopefully with equally attractive cyborgs.

I miss AOL saying 'Welcome!'

I miss using Yahoo for browsing.

I don't think something will replace it.
A network is a network.
