Or went online?

I was just thinking the other day about my first ever reaction to Internet. I think I was 10 or 11... My brother was a highschool freshman and he's 4 years older than me so I'm not sure. Anyway, He told me about this thing where you can go on the computer and there's lots and lots of information, it's just like the Discovery channel he said.

And then I asked: "Well if it's like the Discovery channel, why don't you just watch the Discovery Channel"

:)

Boy, was I an idiot.

First time I ever went online, I think I was 14, I was with a friend at an internet cafe. I chatted online for like 15 min, but didn't do anything else. Then about a month or so later during computer class a guy went on google on my computer and I was like:
"WHOA! What did you just do!?"

:)

I don't really remember my first time on the internet. I guess I'm just too young; to me, the internet has always been there, in some way.

Well not only did I catch the Pre-Internet days but I'm also from a country where by the time PC's were taking over in the USA, people hadn't even heard about them over here.

I'm more fortunate than other kids thought cause our dad was a bit of a gadget freak and kinda obssesed with being the first one to have anything. The first one to have a vcr, the first one to have a computer in the house, first one to have a dvd player. :)

Actually, now that you mention it, i can't remember days without the internet ....

I think it was 1996, I was 16 in college, it was pretty crap back then.

I think I must have been about ten. I didn't understand it at all.

I was but a Lad, and I remeber hearing about the internet, and thinking it was not real.

I was mostly on Gopher and usenets in the beginning. WWW wasn't around too much then and the wonder twins hadn't developed Yahoo.

My "hook" was this cool little chat program called MIRC. You can chat, create macros and all sorts of ASCII art, share files and best of all, cybersex. My pimp arm was strong then.

I remember the usenets in the beginning as well. I think I remeber reading some of the sex stories. LOL

I remember getting AOL and chatting til the wee hours of the morning.

I didn't get the internet untill I was 18. I must admit I kind of over reacted to it and became very excited because it was like a whole new world.:csad: It was my only real nerdy moment.:cwink:

No, I've been on it since I was like 7 or 8.

When the high school computers were linked up, although there wasn't much on the net back in those days so it wasn't used very often.

Hell, I used to muck around on old BBS systems long before the internet was available even to students. Around '91-'92 is when I first got onto the net in college. I used it for a lot of research. And then I discovered IRC. :o I lost a lot of sleep playing around on IRC. I did find a way to tie IRC into my thesis research, though. Heh!

around 95, I was doing some school work at a friend's house and he had dial up and a laptop computer.
it was like living in the future *sniff*

I remember the first time I found Russian Rape Porn on the internet. I thought it was real and men were going to break down the door.

I remember the exact first thing I saw on the internet.
My brother has cerebral palsy and as he got older, the family was starting to freak out as to whether or not he'd ever be able to live on his own and support himself.

So my rich Aunt heard that computers were the future and blew a bunch of money to get him the best computer as a way onto the Information Super Highway. lol.

So my Mom's showing how "amazing" it is, how it's like an encyclopedia where you can look up anything, like the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy.

So she goes, "Watch This!"
And she types in "elephant".

And......ermm.....8 minutes later, there was one picture of an elephant on the screen! With a paragraph about elephants!

And I said, "...or he could wheel into the next room and pick up a whole BOOK on elephants with hundreds of pictures."

The most amazing was the first time I played a MMORPG.
I remember the first few moments.
After the big build up, there was a "sucked-into-a-portal" graphic, and then *bl0nk*

I was standing on a road, and I picked up and apple off the grass. Then I ran toward town with all these other dudes in armor. Then I ran back and put the apple back on the grass, and then went to town, and came back a few minutes later, and saw the apple still there on the ground. And I could not believe this was happening. I was beyond excited. LOL

The first internet site I ever went to was for Beanie Babies :( I had to be 7 or 8.

My view on the internet changed completely though in 5th grade, when I found my first porn site :o

I remember the usenet groups that allowed me to download pics and I was horrified that those downloads were saved on my AOL download history. I quickly erased all that history. LOL

Usenet is still alive and well.

Fall of 99 in high school. I didn't know much about the internet until one day I would to the school library and got online, and I was hooked.

Then two weeks later, unexpectedly, my mom comes home with a complete...didn't start looking for porn until 2001.

I started looking for porn...the day I got the internet....and my parents went to bed.

Only first thing I remember is, I did't have it.

I don't remember the first time I tried it.

Was it a Beanie Babies porn site?

It was in college, I was studying journalism... Funny thing is, when I suggested it would be possible to talk to big comic book artists and writers like Frank Miller or movie and TV guys, people laughed at me, and since then I had questions answered by Chris Carter, Neil Gaiman, Peter David...
