Logan Do you think Patrick Stewart could get a best supporting nomination?

Old Charles reminded me of Old Picard from "All Good Things," the final TNG episode

I was blown away by the performances in this film... I think I will have to see it one more time at least to see where I come down on this. The performances are rich, emotionally resonant and just supremely well done. I felt I was watching an indie road film from the 70's in many ways. All that out there... I don't know right now if I would give anyone an Oscar in the movie, or even just nominate them.

Still, these were outstanding performances. No one let me down in terms of how they inhabited these character and took them to places I never expected in a super hero film.

We'll know more by about October where everyone stands. Just because it's March doesn't mean these performances won't be looked at by years end. Mad Max was released in May and went onto win big at the Oscars.

I don't know, but what about Hugh Jackman for best supporting in all the times he played Wolverine before especially in "The Wolverine".

But still out of all the actors in the X-Men film universe, why for the love of God was James McAvoy not nominated for...(hard to define it as leading role or supporting role, but I guess best actor for leading role would be more suited) in Days of Future Past?

McAvoy's performance in DOFP was phenomenal. I thought he deserved to at least be nominated.

It's way too early to tell, but even so I'd guess "no."

It goes to show how well Xavier has been done throughout these films. The X-Men movies have always been hit or miss but Charles and Eric have always been done justice. Logan has too, despite how bad his standalone movies have been until now.

Patrick Stewart is completely heartbreaking in this film. He might've been even more effective than the other two leads for me, as great as they both were. There's just so much tragedy there, to know who he was and see what what he'd become. What's interesting is that you can see shades of the rebellious, "wilderness period" Xavier that McAvoy played in Days of Future Past. How foul-mouthed he is (McAvoy got the only f-bomb in that film) and his part-contentious, part-nurturing dynamic with Logan.

Stewart, Keen and Jackman were all absolutely fantastic. All showed their range, all showed depth of character, all felt natural and real, yet magnetic at the same time.

All will be ignored by every one of the major award ceremonies.

which is sad because i have been more captivated by performances in genre films then regular drama film performances

Stewart deserves a nomination

Just sucks that Logan was released too early in the year and soon after the Oscars took place. Hope this movie doesn't get overlooked

I doubt it will happen, but I think that Sir Patrick deserves a lot of for to recognition for his amazing work - Professor X was a role he was born to,play and he's brought such humanity, grace and depth to the character.

This particular version of Xavier, is the King Lear version - the ruined king (btw, I saw Ian McKellen on stage as King Lear, it was awesome).

I hope at least he gets a nomination, whether he wins or not doesn't matter, but the recognition would be fantastic (kind of like McKellen's nominations for Gods and Monsters, and LOTR - he was never going to win, but the recognition was deserved)

I've been a huge fan of Sir Patrick's work since I saw him in Excalibur and Dune over, 30 years ago - and of course Star Trek TNG, I doubt would have been anywhere near the phenomenon it was without him in the lead.

The guy makes everything he's in better for his presence. Okay, I'll stop now.

Both Stewart and Jackman should at the very least get nominations. The Academy's bias towards genre movies is ridiculous and I wish it ended. I doubt I see better performance than these two in any 'serious' (by Academy standards) movie this year

As much as his performance was the best in the film, he won't even be close to being nominated.

I don't think Patrick Stewart gave the best performance in the film. Rather, I think all three of the main actors gave equally compelling performances. In my dream world, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, and Dafne Keen would all get nominated for an Oscar or at least a Golden Globe for this film. Patrick Stewart broke my heart, Dafne Keen had me in awe, and Hugh Jackman was so nuanced and real in this film. It is amazing how Hugh Jackman inhabits this character to the point where I completely forget it is Hugh Jackman, and his love for the character really shows. I have never seen a comic book actor love his character as much as Hugh does. The guy is the total opposite of Logan in interviews with his smiling face, Aussie accent, and friendly/down-to-earth exterior, and in 'Logan' dare I say he finally embodied this character 100 percent and took his acting to another level (he brought 'Prisoners' level acting to 'Logan'). I have so much respect for that. He gave 110% every time he played Logan/Wolverine/James Howlett, even when the movies were bad, and he literally got better with almost every single movie - and then he took a pay cut for this last film in an attempt to give the fans the quintessential film about this character, and he absolutely nailed it. If that is not dedication, I don't know what is. On top of that, he is such a stand up dude to the fans. He will be sorely missed.

However, given that this was a comic book film that was released in March, I'm expecting no prestigious awards for any of them - at least not for this film. Patrick Stewart has the best shot, given how hard it is to get Oscar nominated in a comic book movie for best lead actor (has it even ever happened?).

He was awesome. Hugh Jackman was great but this was Stewats best turn as Xavier IMO and he really sold the 'sad, I'll old man who wants a family again' role

Again a great performance. To see him old, fragile... it was just so difficult at times. But then he balanced it out perfectly with the heart, laughs...

I think, if not Stewart, there should be a few nominations for this one. Thank you, Fox!!!
