Someone posted in the trailer thread yesterday a link to a website that gave the time places in Europe and Asia would receive a feed of the trailer. That website used the same synopsis, so I think it's safe to say it's official.

Well I think they have been trying to keep his look a secret. But since Comic Con it has been public that Topher Grace is Venom. After all, he fielded a lot of "What's it like playing Venom?" questions following the convention to reporters.

I think that the Venom 'surprise' wasnt a surprise no more when someone took picture of Topher in NY... Spider-man 3 venom was one of the top searches on google and yahoo in may/june, so general audience would get a glimpse of what happens too.

Even earlier, Kirsten dunst let us know in an interview that sandman and venom would be in the movie. Even sony putted up this wallpaper of eddie/venom. And finally the comic con trailer confimed all that. Even general audience wants venom. But anyways, I think peolple wanted this.
