    Happy Independence Day, Guest!

Doc Ock vs. Green Goblin

I enjoyed reading the Doc Ock/Ned Leeds debate, but I'll have to go with Otto being the winner in this fight.

Doc Ock here too. The movie Green Goblin was just a very lame villain in execution.

Well I"d say GG. People mistake that since Ock was in the better movie he could win, hardly the case. GG is far crueler, less merciful (if GG had a choice to die a hero or take the whole city with ihm....he'd take the whole city with him) and much stronger.

Spidey was pulling his punches cause he doesn't kill, GG just needs one shot (as he appears physically stronger than Spider-Man in the first movie) to knock the Doc's head clean off. Plus he would probably keep his distance. While Ock could block GG's bombs all day the razor bats would be harder. All GG would need to do is stay on his glider and send some razor bats around and while the arms are preoccupied he could send a missile (movie GG had missiles) and blow Ock away, even if Ock caught it.

If somehow Ock survived all that a neutron bomb (which was created just for the movie) would do the trick as it would incinerate Ock even if a tentacle blocked it. In fact one wonders why he just didn't throw that at Spidey...wanted him to suffer I guess.

The Goblin didn't even stand up to a bunch of New York morons tossing trash at him and dissing him. He just stood there and took it.

Ock would whup him :o ;)

GG would've killed them if he had time, he instead had to kick Spider-Man's ass before Spidey got acclimated for the fight. GG literally beat the living **** out of Spidey, Ock never did that, he merely let the train defeat Spidey. If GG didn't ****ing talk so much there would have been no sequel. ;)

Yeah, because it would have taken soooooooooo long to fly up there and toss a few pumpkin bombs on their heads ;)

Really??

I recall Ock picking up a laid out Spidey in his lair when he bashed him on the head with the plank of wood, and then smashed him into the metal support girders, right before he tried to stab him with the huge blade in his tentacle.

Did GG even beat Spidey enough to have him laid out like that?? Nope. Spidey's body was totally limp when Ock picked him up:

Yeah, yeah, and if that power cable hadn't of been right under where Spidey was dangling there would be no SM-3 :p

Green Goblin with the Glider would whoop Doc Ock.

Without the Glider, that's hard to say. Maybe Doc Ock.

True.

Then again...Octopus did hide behind an old woman and run away. =)

Taking a hostage is hiding??

Then I guess Goblin hid behind a bunch of kids trapped in a tram =)

though i agree ock would win in a fight...it does bother me that goblin was able to figure out peter's secret identity and ock wasnt... some scientist, huh?

The kids werent taken as hostages - they were never meant to protect the Goblin.

They were meant to die.

And yes...taking a hostage IS hiding. To protect one's self. Octopus, oddly enough, took her and ran away - "Don't follow me."

I know, I know...I raised a brow at that scene as well.

Doc ock because he'll get the job done by amy means necessary. He had no distractions. He needed tritium and in order to get it he had to bring in spidey so he did it. Ock proved to be smarter with the tactics he used too, utilising the people around him to his advantage.

Really??

Is that why he only attacked Spidey when he had his hands full saving them and MJ, and was unable to fight back?? The only reason Spidey survived is because the citizens started chucking rubbish on the Goblin.

That's pretty silly reasoning Vile. If Aunt May was there to protect Ock, he wouldn't have callously dropped her when Spider-Man confronted him. He would have held that blade to her throat and told him to back off.

And you're also forgetting Ock wanted Spider-Man to attack him, when he had the large blade hidden behind his back: "Come on".

No hiding involved.

And there's that. The Cops aren't going to shoot at him when he has a hostage.

Which is why the scene at the Unity festival in SM-1 is so dumb. The Cops walk right up to the Goblin like the idiots they are and let him kick their asses. The dude just blew up a balcony, and they just walk up to him unarmed saying "Hold it right there"

What has being a scientist got to do with anything?? The only reason Norman found out his identity is because he saw the cut on Peter's arm at thanksgiving dinner.

No genius involved there.

Back to the issue of who defeated Spider-Man neither obviously really defeated Spider-Man. The scene where Spidey was limp, he was winded when Ock picked up him but obviously playing possum as he then pulls up the electrical wiring (and misses a point for a great one-liner) and fries Ock's little brains out.

As said the train defeated Spider-Man and not Ock before that. As for GG well he had only one out and out fight with ol' web-head and really kicked his ass. Spidey was bleeding and a lot more broken than he ever was against Doc Ock. I mean he had his arm crushed into the floor by a gloating Goblin and did nothing. If Goblin had just said "Goodbye parker" and impaled him then, that would've been game over. But Goblin has always been a chatty cathy ( ;) ) and so instead he brags how he'll troture and possibly rape MJ which of course gives Spidey a second wind to fight harder.

So neither ever defeated Spider-Man but not counting the train GG came a lot closer. Without the glider GG probably couldn't get close enough to Ock, Ock wouldn't be able to kill GG but would be able to keep him away and leave when bored with the repition of hitting a lunging Goblin. But with a glider, Ock would be in some serious ****.

As said he could send a missile while out of arm's length that would blow up the ends ofthe arms if they caught it, throw razor bats that the arms would have to block as Ock left his head vulnerable or just simply throw a neutron bomb which even if the arms block will leave Ock's body as dust. GG just has too many goodies for Ock to win really.

P.S. Ock did still use Aunt May as leverage to hide behind (not that the Goblin didn't do this either) when he dropped her knowing that Spidey would be pre-occupied with saving her and while he does this he could beat the **** out of Spidey. He then uses her again as bait so Spidey would unthinkingly charge into his blade. Luckily Aunt May must pack a mean wallop with her umbrella. Women must know how to protect themselves.

Y'know what I never thought of it but that is two villains being embarssingly defeated, one by a bunch of *******s on a bridge he could've blown up and the other by an old lday with an umbrella. Venom better not go down to a toddler with a water gun in the next movie.

I disagree.

You are under the assumption that the arms could be destroyed by a pumpkin bomb. If they are resistant to heat and magnetism, who knows just how strong they are. They were resistant to pumpkin bombs in the comics so.....

Secondly, you keep saying GG just has to throw these things at Ock and he's done. Do you seriously think Ock will not dodge, maneuver, and block this stuff?? If Spidey with two flesh and blood arms can do it, then a six armed man can do it.

Actually, that sounds more like something that would hurt Sandman ;)

No, the neutron bomb doesn't need to destroy the arms. The radiation set off well engulf and surround the arms and even fi they aren't hurt (and they likely wouldn't be) Ock's body would've been dust. And Ock sure couldn't dodge thsoe impact webbins which is the speed at which a razor bat or missile would be coming (actually faster) nad as I said, even if he dodged or caught the neutron bomb it stil lwould kill him. In fact one wonders why he just didn't toss that at Spidey in the warehouse instead (to make him suffer?).

I see it now Sandman will seem to have Spidey beat and the two little annoying boys from Sm2 wil lbe back with supersoakers saying "Leave Spider-Man alone. When you mess with one of us you mess with all of us!" and quirt him into the cracks of a sewer or something then.

Ock has four tentacles, resistant to HEAT and magnetism I may add. Not to mention the arms have A.I. which spot any in coming attacks. Remember MJ tried to hit Ock from behind?? What can the Goblin do that Ock cannot counter act??

Aunt May hit him from behind.

Green Goblin does talk too much, but know one can use that as an excuse for not beating Spidey, cause he would talk too much while fighting Ock. As for Ock, he never beat Spidey either. He took Aunt May hostage, He made the train go out of control, his hide out was about to collapse on top of MJ. He escaped because of all of those. Green Goblin obviously never defeated Spidey, so that basically evens out about the whole defeated Spidey. I think it would be an amazing fight. I would put my money on GG because GG can shoot missiles and throw bombs at the same time. If Ock blocks that, it would leave him open certainly, for GG to throw one more bomb or get close to Ock's Body. If there was no gldier, GG would get his butt whooped.

Yeah, but Ock isn't going to have the Goblin sitting right behind him now is he??

Not to mention GG was too stupid to even move when the citizens started throwing trash at him. He just stood there looking at them and getting hit. I mean wtf.

Fly up there and kill them for god sake.

As I said above, Ock could out maneuver or block any bomb or razor bat that GG throws at him.

And another thing GG has going against him is his weapons are limited. Ock doesn't run out of tentacles ;)

Venom, Sandman, then Doc Ock for 3rd...

but if you were talking about movies that have already come out, then i'd say Doc Ock.

In the scene where the people were throwing trash at him I think Green Goblin was kind of dizzy for a few seconds after getting hit in the head by metal a few times. He's even wearing a metal helmet which has to make a loud noise when hit by metal. If he tried flying away he might have hit a wall because he was kind of dizzy.

But he should have taken a few hits, shook it off, and then threw a freakin' bomb up there.

Yeah that part was extremely stupid in the movie.

No, Ock wouldn't have Gobby sitting behind him.I was just making a point, however I do agree with you.

Movie Octopus doesnt have HALF the speed his comic self has.

It'd be a fun fight, but GG has the advantage in all areas.
