Does anyone else get a little worried around Christmas?

I mean with the family all being there. Lots of crowds. Some people who don't always like you. Awkwardness.

How do you deal with it? I know it's a bit of a first world problem but my family on mums side can be genuinely crazy as in rage virus in 28 weeks later crazy.

Usually I just stay in my room and say hi and bye and nothing more. I'm hoping to buy myself a ps4 by then so that should keep me occupied

My extended family doesn't spend much time around one another the rest of each year, much less Christmas. The main thing that saddens me is that my Grandma recently passed away, so this will be my first Christmas without her; we were pretty close.

As for general goings-on and such, I don't shop very much during December, because of all the crowds. I go for a couple of days in the first week, but that's it. No "black Friday" stuff for me, either.

I don't particularly enjoy Christmas anymore. I guess it must be an age thing...

I work in retail.....too much X-Mas merch coming in....:palps: a half way decent holiday is now on my last nerve.

I'm assuming family is coming over because your parents are making food and wanting to see other family. Which from someone who's family is miles away, is something I miss. At 26, you should be doing more than staying in your room playing video games.

Worried about what? I greatly enjoy Christmas. Like anything else, it can stress you out only if you let it.

As for crazy relatives, we're all crazy to some degree. Live with it.

You actually enjoy holidays instead of *****ing about commercialism and how they're meaningless?

That's so uncool. :o

A trick I use to get my inlaws to leave early on the holidays is to switch to low grade toilet paper when they come over. Last year they left 2 hours early when I did this on Thanksgiving day.

My condolences

I watch Christmas Vacation every year around the holidays and it helps me realize that every family has it's crazy members, and you just have to bear with them for a short while. It's also one of the funniest movies ever, so there's that too

Do what any normal sane person would do...watch Jingle All The Way.

Buy a cabin out in the middle of the desert, move there, and don't ruin Christmas for your fun loving family.

Seriously, who goes to someone else's house to drop a deuce? Get em out of there.

My dad's side of the family is full of rednecks with a side of ketchup.
My mom's side is full of crippling alcoholics.
And my immediate family is full of a bunch of weirdos, myself included.

Makes for some interesting parties.

My aunt passed out on my brother-in-law's lap the first Christmas my sister brought him home, to which my drunk uncle grabbed him by the shoulder and shouted, "Think we're weird yet?!"

My cousin comes riding up to the house in his truck with five-foot lifts while blasting the Dukes of Hazard horn.

My uncle shows me porn on his cell phone.

My mom does her dog impressions.

I am drinking heavily in the corner .

I carry some Wisers and egg nog in a flask, explore Toronto, and assist any of Santa's little helpers if I come across any ;)

That's how I get around the Christmas season.

My dads side of the family loves to drink. So those parties are always fun.

My moms side of the family everyone likes to play that card game spoons, while they talk about the drama in town.

I always love seeing dads side of the family. :yay:

For years I've been wanting to wear a Star of David during the week of Christmas whenever I go out into public places. Maybe I'll do it this year.
