The Rise of Skywalker Does Kathleen Kennedy get fired after ROS?

Here's the idea for an Obi Wan movie a user had back in 2015.
Here's an Obi-Wan idea:

Have another film take place between the Prequels and OT. Bring back Macgregor as Obi-Wan. Have Temeura Morrison play an aged, bitter ex- Commander Cody. And have either Ray Park or Sam Witwer play Maul.

Have the whole story play as a kind of jidaigeki and western fusion, with a major theme being how all these characters were playing major, world shattering roles in the affairs of the Galaxy, and now they've all outlived their original purpose. Obi-Wan can't defend the Republic because it doesn't exist, and old Cody is of no use to the Empire without the Clone Wars, and Maul can never be a public force in the Galaxy again because Vader and Palpatine will put him down. So all three have a kind of tired and weary way about them, like those old gunfighters in westerns or the samurai who wound up impoverished after the Sengoku period.

But they've all got something to live for still. Kenobi is watching over Luke and harboring dreams of seeing the son rectify his father's mistakes, Maul is still dreaming of final revenge on the man who maimed him, and Cody is hunting Maul for the deaths of some of his brothers during the Clone Wars. But all three have a flaw in their dreams; Kenobi isn't wanted around by Luke's guardians, Maul tried to have revenge on Kenobi but the Jedi shook it off so he's not even sure he can get true revenge, and Cody is fast approaching an early grave and must live with the turmoil of whether or not carrying out Order 66 helped or hurt the Galaxy.

Picture the kind of character drama where lightsabers aren't used until the last battle to keep their cover down, Maul leads a small band of Mandalorian speeder bikers, like the gangs in the westerns, to try and finally run Obi-Wan down, while Cody, now discarded and desperate and despairing, obsessively follows him, and Obi-Wan trying to save lives and be a hero while still staying quiet enough the Empire doesn't notice. Picture Kenobi and Cody teaming up, but with Cody struggling with the lies he's used to justify Order 66 and the Empire to himself while talking to a man the Empire still wants dead. And picture two tired, weary and run down warriors aiming for a final showdown that calls back to their glory days.

Their on a planet with two Suns, small and scattered towns, criminals and Imperials, and even a hostile native species in the Tusken Raiders. It's the Wild West in Star Wars.

How's that strike you?

I'm not saying Disney will do this. But it sounds great. And if a non professional writer can come up with this, I'm sure people with more experience writing can come up with something just as good

You can't have Darth Maul in an Obi-Wan series since they already did that story in Rebels.

Here's the major red flag in this whole Obi-Wan Kenobi announcement. This is from August 2019:

‘Obi-Wan’ Ewan McGregor Disney+ Series Shooting Next Year, All Scripts Ready – D23 – Deadline

“We have all the scripts written, and we’re ready to go next year, we can’t wait to start production,” said Kennedy.

Is this supposed to be another certain point of view thing? What happened to all the scripts being written and ready to go?

Now that said, yes Detective Conan has a good point. Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine sort of limits your options. There's not a ton you can do. Kenobi is on Tatooine and keeping a low profile and watching Luke grow up. That's about it.

No it really doesn't.

Why do people keep saying that when it's clearly not true. Again for a 2 hour movie or a 6-8 hour mini series there's enough.
Maybe not 5 seasons or 100 episodes. But Tatooine is a whole planet. It's not like we're saying he needs to stay within 50 yards of Mos Eisley

Kinda. Not much can really happen with Obi-Wan Kenobi on Tatooine. He can't really leave Tatooine. He can't confront Darth Maul, and no one other than Bail Organa and Yoda can know where he is.

Also, he can't let Luke figure out who he really is either.

Except ultimately there's still some limiting options there. No one can really catch on to the idea that Kenobi on Tatooine is Obi-Wan. And since there is an Imperial presence there, that means the series can't really end with the Imperials finding out who he is.
So what?
There are more ways to end the series than that.

Tatooine is a whole planet. There's more avenues to explore than Darth Maul and Luke finding out who he is
There's plenty of things that could happen to Obi Wan on Tatooine to fill a mini series. And even taking out Darth Maul, people have listed them out within this page alone.

You're just complaining and being negative per usual

The so what are there are a bunch of limiting options there. Those are the so what if you stop being obstinate. And now here we are after Kathleen Kennedy blatantly lied and said the scripts are ready to go and all done, now the show is being pared down to four episodes, and it's been pushed back.

Clearly there are issues here whether you are in denial or not.

And if there's barely enough for four episodes, than why not just make an actual movie?

Is Kennedy the best judge of scripts at this point ?

Well my problem is that last August she said the scripts were done and ready to go to start filming this year. What happened with that?

Also looking at Hossein Amini's filmography, I see a ton of red flags between 47 Ronin, Snow White in The Huntsman, The Snowman.

1) We haven't seen the scripts so we don't know why it's being cut down. We don't know if they're being cut down because the story was bad or for what. So that's a silly point to bring up.
2) Again we're talking a mini series not an ongoing series. There is enough content for a 2-6 hour story of the 1/2 of the last remaining older Jedi, who's in hiding, who's protecting the chosen one, who's whole way of life has been taken from him, who has all these skills that aren't of much use to them any more, who's on a fairly treacherous planet that hasn't been explored that much in live action.

The limiting options you keep claiming are there aren't that limiting if you actually take the time to think about it instead of just complaining.

Yet look at the state the project is in right now? They are trying to rework it to four episodes and rewrite it. Despite announcing they were done and ready to go. Clearly there are problems here. Rebels caused problems since they did the final Kenobi/Maul confrontation.
But we don't know why.
We don't know if it's because they think it's no story there, we don't know if it's budget cuts, etc. We haven't heard anything as to "why" yet other than reportedly Kennedy isn't happy with the scripts.
So it's silly to bring it up

Why is she unhappy with the scripts now .

I'm not complaining I'm addressing the reality of the situation. They've pushed back the series. The scripts they said last August that were done and ready to go, KATHLEEN KENNEDY'S OWN WORDS, are apparently no longer good enough. They are reworking it and cutting off the episode count.

So going by the actual news, there wasn't enough content for a six hour story. Even Mandalorian episodes were shorter than 40 minutes usually. They weren't 8 42 minute episodes. And now they want Kenobi to be only four episodes.

I don't see why it's a silly point to bring up because now they are tossing out what was written before.

Umm this is straight from Hollywood Reporter:

Sources tell THR that the scripts — only two were written — and story became an issue and that the entire package has been jettisoned. Lucasfilm is now on the hunt for a new writer to pen the series. At the same time, sources say the project is being reconfigured from six episodes to four.

It is unclear why scripts became an issue so late in the process. One source said the Kenobi story trod similar ground as The Mandalorian, seeing the Jedi master lending a protective hand to a young Luke and possible even a young Leia, perhaps mirroring how the Mandalorian took Baby Yoda under his protective custody.

Kathleen Kennedy also said last August ALL THE SCRIPTS WERE WRITTEN AND READY TO GO.

So technically, she lied.

No going by the "actual news "Kennedy wasn't happy with the scripts. We don't know why they're cut down. You're trying to paint a false narrative.

The actual reality of the situation
-Kennedy claimed the scripts were done and ready to go back in August. Ok. This is Kathleen Kennedy: who seems to fine with Solo until she wasn't, who was fine with Rogue One until she wasn't, who was fine with how the Saga was going until she pivoted from the established stories. She has shown a pattern of changing her mind and not knowing what she wants if you look at things.
-We don't know why scripts are being cut down. We haven't heard anything concrete or anything at all as to why the episode order is being cut down. This is coming after TRoS isn't performing as well as it should. It could be the budget, or maybe it is the story thing. But we have no evidence of that yet.

That's the reality of the situation right now.

Ok so we might know the why. I'll comp to that. The story is a retread of what was just happening with Mando.
But Where does that say anything about the episodes being cut down due to there not being enough story with Obi Wan on Tatooine?
All that says is that the 1 angle they were possibly going with might be retreading.

That doesn't mean there's nothing to do with Obi Wan.

Your initial point is that there isn't enough story for Obi Wan. Multiple people have stated this is wrong and said why. You tried to claim that due to there not being any story for Obi Wan that the episodes have been cut,
I
So going by the actual news, there wasn't enough content for a six hour story.
which there is no evidence of.

And so what, Kennedy lied. Most producers lie. They're salespeople

Maybe she didn't lie. Maybe she just got a second opinion on the scripts and redirected.

I think what we are seeing here is the difference between a good, skilled movie producer and the head of a studio.

Also when you have worked shoulder to shoulder with great filmmakers like Spielberg, Zemeckis, and Lucas, for most of your career, they probably make your job a helluva lot easier and make you look better in the process.

And I still think she's a good producer, but probably over her skis as head of LFL. Either rejigger this whole thing to make it work properly or bow out gracefully.

And even if she did, most producers and talent do
Indeed. The biggest issue as I see it is creative direction. That's where I think she is struggling. She's not a writer or a director, at least she doesn't have background there, she's a producer with good solid work in that arena. Let her do that and give creative direction to others.

I guess DeanCaboose or whatever his name was has been banned

Been banned under multiple names.

Oh

Were they originally an active poster or have they always been only a few posts before banning

From what I can tell.....he pops up, makes multiple posts ranting against Kennedy and various other people or things....and gets banned.
