The Rise of Skywalker Does Kathleen Kennedy get fired after ROS?

RE: Obi-Wan project.

The Cassian Andor (remember him) series was reported as cancelled by Variety before soon after the article being revised to say Tony Gilroy was brought on to redo it. It's current status is unknown.
Oh wow this got buried for me I didn't see this.

Never understood why they would do the show in any case.
I don't think anyone left saying: WOW I LOVE THAT CASSIAN GUY.
Although I don't think anyone left Rogue One that dedicated to any of the characters

I liked Cassian in Rogue One, but I don't think people left Rogue One having Cassian Andor fever with the attitudes of, 'Wow, gotta get me a lot more of that Andor guy!' Though I appreciate Tony Gilroy was somehow coaxed back after he said this.

Tony Gilroy, co-writer and uncredited additional filming director of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story: “I have to be careful [about what I say]. I don’t know what the statute of limitations is. I’ve never done an interview about Rogue [One], ever.” “The gumption, the balls of Disney and Bob Iger and the people there to gamble on what they gambled on is astonishing. [Rogue One] was just a mess and [their] fear [is what brought me on to the project].” (April 5, 2018)

Tony Gilroy: “If you look at Rogue [One], all the difficulty [Lucasfilm had] with Rogue [One before I came on board], all the confusion of it … and all the mess, and in the end when you get in there, it’s actually very, very simple to solve, because you sort of go, ‘This is a movie where, folks, just look. Everyone is going to die.’ So it’s a movie about sacrifice.” “I came in after the director’s cut. I have a screenplay credit in the arbitration that was easily won.” “I’ve never been interested in Star Wars, ever. So I had no reverence for it whatsoever. I was unafraid about that. And they were in such a swamp … they were in so much terrible, terrible trouble that all you could do was improve their position.” “[Returning to work on Star Wars after Rogue One] doesn’t appeal to me, but I don’t think Rogue [One] really is a Star Wars movie in many ways. To me, it’s a Battle of Britain movie.” (April 5, 2018)

Tony Gilroy: “[I hesitate to say what went wrong with Rogue One before I came on, but] when things pass through many hands and there’s a great deal of confusion … and there’s all kinds of accessories and jewelries and bootstraps and zippers, and all the rest of the stuff. The purity for the characters, if it’s not there to begin with, it just deteriorates and just turns into an absolute mush.” (October 18, 2018)

Ok so we might know the why. I'll comp to that. The story is a retread of what was just happening with Mando.
But Where does that say anything about the episodes being cut down due to there not being enough story with Obi Wan on Tatooine?
All that says is that the 1 angle they were possibly going with might be retreading.

That doesn't mean there's nothing to do with Obi Wan.

Your initial point is that there isn't enough story for Obi Wan. Multiple people have stated this is wrong and said why. You tried to claim that due to there not being any story for Obi Wan that the episodes have been cut,

which there is no evidence of.

And so what, Kennedy lied. Most producers lie. They're salespeople

It's embarrassing for her when she makes a big show of making this big announcement at D23. She brought out Ewan McGregor in front of the fans and basically promised an Obi-Wan Kenobi show. Anything they say at those trade shows, anything they put on stage should be far along enough that they are ready to deliver on it.

For clarification, I don't think it's impossible to tell an Obi-Wan Kenobi story for TV. I think you can do a ONE-OFF limited miniseries.

That said, I still think the options for what kind of story they can tell are limited as there are a bunch of restrictions that Lucasfilm has imposed on the story due to the new revised canon.

I think a Disney+ miniseries is better because it's less risky than a movie. A movie requires a $200 million+ budget and you have to basically guarantee like $1 billion or whatever so it's not perceived as a flop. Plus they can circumvent the distribution budget as its straight to series.

Just for example, I think you do a bit of Obi-Wan Kenobi just sort of struggling with how he and the entire Jedi Order "failed" and maybe he has a crisis of conscious and has to find the will to keep going. Maybe we can see Kenobi getting frustrated before he gets to the more peaceful zen like state we find him in A New Hope.

Also, if we do see Luke, I think we should see him very little. IMHO, it shouldn't be Adventures of Ben Kenobi and little boy Luke.

I’m more interested in exploring new areas of the galaxy with new characters for Star Wars not retreading back to the familiar. Watching Obi-Wan having adventures in a desert holds no appeal to me.

Now that’s not to say it can’t work but it’s hardly something that excites me. If people are in to that idea, great, but I think there’s more compelling ideas for Star Wars projects waiting to be realized.

I think one reason Mandalorian worked so well is that Filoni and Favreau weren't shackled by using established characters. So they could basically do what they wanted with their whole crew since all of them were basically blank slates.

Wasnt the droid the character people liked the most?
I cant remember, but yeah...i never saw people being really dedicated to the characters.
They served their purpose and had their story, cant remember anybody ever wanting more from any of the characters.
So i never got why they even thought about making more...least of all about cassian.

I hear people talk about wanting solo2, which i get.
Despite it all, the fundation is there for a good Solo movie...but anything rogue one related? its all told as far as im concerned.

Oh absolutly...it is an important reason why mandalorian works.
You dont have to move in a small box, sure you have the timeline holding you back a bit...but when that is the only thing and you can literally do everything, that is fantastic.

The other thing that is effected in all of this is Disney+. Like, once you get past Mandalorian, there’s nothing worth paying a monthly subscription for. Netflix and Amazon are bringing out new stuff constantly. Disney have got one Marvel show coming this year only, and with this news, no new Star Wars show until at least the end of 2021 at the earliest.

Pfft. Speak for yourself and a small minority. Not at all. There are tons of great movies to enjoy on Disney+

There's such an incompetance here. At this point I don't know how you can say all is well and she's doing a great job with a straight face.

If ****ty kids films are your thing more power to you I guess.

Definitely enough content that works for me. The new stuff will come in time, I got other shows to catch up on

Wasn't my intention to be rude, just being honest. If you find enjoyment out of the content on Disney+ then good for you and others who agree with you. Outside of Mandalorian I don't find anything of worth on the platform, and frankly I think Disney botched it by only launching with one major original title. Basically, the service is about 5 years away from being anything close to being a Netflix or even Amazon rival, if it will ever be. Basically they've bet the farm on Star Wars and Marvel to keep people around, and one half of that combo isn't exactly firing on all cylinders.

Umm a new season of The Clone Wars debuts in February.

Bull. S***.

This IS rude, your intention was clear.

No, my intention wasn't to be rude and I'll thank you for not assuming it was. If it was taken as such then I apologise.

Here's a wild idea.....more than just Star Wars fans will watch DISNEY.....like maybe a few hundred million families with kids.

Shhhhhh.

Let them have their incorrect delusions

How in the world is this post not meant to be taken condescendingly or rudely? Seriously bro, you need to clean up your act. You constantly post in this manner and it is tiresome. You can't just be a jerk to people all the time and then act like you're not doing anything wrong. This is a very condescending post you made, own up to it. And maybe not treat people condescendingly in the future.

You easily could have just said the content on their is not my thing and it would have been fine. But you had to go out of your way to make it sound insulting to people who actually like the service. You're flat-out calling people tasted movies terrible in that post. In other words, you're being condescending

Well, there's a new Toy Story short starring Bo Peep coming out soon on Disney+. So there's that.

Monster's Inc show too.
ANd most Pixar movies, most Disney classics movies, a bunch of Disney Channel and Toon Disney shows...Disney+ is good on content. They can coast on the nostalgia stuff until they get really going with all of the originals.
