In Captain America #250, the Sentinel of Liberty is offered the Presidential nomination of a fictional third party.
He rightly declines on the grounds that he's about America and its principles not a party political affiliation, but I am curious- does/ should he vote(as Steve Rogers that is), given that real life Presidents(FDR, Nixon, Reagan, about the only President not to do so to date is Obama) frequently appear in his title, does he ever vote, and if so for which party( personally I think given his growing up during the Depression he is arguably closer to the Democratic Party than the GOP)?
My guess is that like US Supreme Court Justices or the Armed Forces, he doesn't vote- because like them he has to be seen to be above party political allegiances( yes, individual members of the US military vote, but they are expected at least whilst serving to stay out of politics).
Anybody think as I do?
Terry
