Players eager to rip and tear are in for a treat. Bethesda announced Doom Eternal during their E3 press conference tonight, showing off a trailer full of demons.
Bethesda rebooted Doom in 2016, offering a slightly different take on the classic first person shooter full of arena fights and melee executions. At the end of Doom, the Doom Slayer was stabbed in the chest by a huge-arse energy sword wielded by Samuel Hayden, a cyborg with a boring name. Doom Eternal presumably takes place following that betrayal.

I recently finished Doom 2016 not too long ago and it was a good surprise. Hopefully they continue on this path and never go back to being a poor man's System Shock like Doom 3...

I could just play it on rotation constantly. If they made new games I would keep playing. I love doom!

The new/classic suit looks ace! I wonder what new things they will add to this? Maybe they could add some vehicles?

That feels like a classic 90s shooter.

Which lets be honest was the best era for shooters. I miss games that had epic environments and zany weapons. I remember getting excited because one game said they had 100 different weapons but when I got it I found out it just had like, 20 different versions of the pistol or whatever so it wasn’t nearly as exciting as it sounded

The grappling hook gameplay with keyboard and mouse shall be glorious.

I'm pretty stoked for this. The extra platforming seems like an interesting addition, though I'm not so keen on the hookshot shotgun. I prefer the classic unmodified shotgun. I'm liking the updates on classic monsters though, I'm hoping we get a red chaingun guy or two to fight.

Though I'm intrigued about the skeleton warrior guy who was likened to the Doom Slayer ('Good Slayer'?). Is this a significant character in the story or even a protagonist of a bad guy campaign? Also if Doom Slayer is wielding the Crucible blade then where is Hayden and how far into the game is this?

Another thing, though not touched upon in the presentation. Will we see the VFR protagonist again or will he remain deactivated?

Doom 2016 was my game of the year that year. Eternal is at the top of my Most Hyped list. It looks incredible. I'm so happy I just upgraded my PC to play it.
