We all know about double dipping when it comes to movies. When you own a movie on DVD, chances are you might double dip and buy the same movie on Blu-ray; or own multiple versions of the same movie. What movies have you double dipped on?

I don't do it much but for me it's been Dark Knight (steelbook DVD, blu-ray), Iron Man (steelbook DVD, blu-ray), and Incredible Hulk (DVD, blu-ray).

I have Iron Man on DVD (got it for Christmas the year it came out), then got the 2 disc edition, then got it again with the Phase One boxset. Same with Iron Man 2, got that on blu ray when it came out and then got it with the set. That's the only ones I can really think of.

I've only done it with Batman Begins (had on DVD) since I got the TDKT on Blu-ray.

I don't think I've bothered to get DVDs or Blu-rays of the films I have on VHS.

Every Blu Ray I have, I also own on DVD. It's some kind of OCD.

Most of the films I own on DVD I've rebought on blu-ray. Why wouldn't I? I want the best quality available. When 4K resolution blu-ray is released at the end of next year (http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=14923) Ill likely start buying 4K resolution blu-rays of some movies I already own on 1080p blu-ray. It just depends on the film tho.

I thought you were talking about the George Costanza way of double dipping.

I own a couple of BluRays but none of those movies I have on DVD.

Halloween in the first that comes to mind. I have the 25th Anniversary 2-disc DVD, the 30th Anniversary box set with the extended cut and original on BluRay. I have the 35th Anniversary Blu Ray. And now in waiting in the Blu Ray boxset coming this month.

I own the four Burton/Schumacher Batman movies twice. On regular DVD, then I upgraded to the Special Editions the day they came out in '05 (no regrets).

I have the 2001 Superman Special Edition (the one with the double sided disc instead of two discs), the regular Superman II and a crappy version of Superman IV (in one of those cheap cardboard cases, so I assume illegal?). Then, a few years later, someone got me all 4 of them in a box set (same DVD's, no frills)... But then, I got the (glorious) Kryptin when it came out at the end of '06. So I own most of those movies 3 times over.

I feel no inclination at all to upgrade them to Blu-Ray. As far as I know, the transfers are the same and there's no new features. The only one I'm tempted to re-buy for BR is The Donner Cut... and that's just because I kind of like the cover, so probably not.

In late '08, I bought the Iron Man special edition DVD upon release... and then a few weeks later I won a free Blu-Ray player and the movie that came with it was Iron Man on Blu-Ray! So that annoyed me.

There are things I will probably upgrade slowly, namely the Nolan and Tarantino filmographies.

I have not bought Kill Bill or the Harry Potter series until I get extended editions of all movies.

I have X-Men, X2 Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Becerly Hills Cop, Harry Potter 1-3 and Sin City on Blu Ray and DVD

I've bought so many different copies of Star Wars over the years that I've had to make a rule: no more until the blu ray release of the original, unaltered trilogy.

You do realize that those are prolly never coming, right? Alfonso and Newell and Yates were given the option to do extended editions for the ultimate blu-ray releases a few years back and Alfonso and Newell both said they felt their films were perfect as is. I never heard Yates response but the fact he didnt extend them speaks for itself. You might as well go ahead and buy the films on blu-ray.

I have double dipped DVD to blu-ray 55 times. VHS and Laser Disc to DVD now that was crazier. Half of my collection are DVD's. I'm not sure if I want to get rid of them or double dip some of them to blu-ray, and get rid of the rest. So many of the films I own are now on Netflix. The image quality on Netflix is better that the than the copies I own on DVD.

Not one movie have I double dipped. I really don't count VHS as part of that, though. Jumping from DVD to Blu-ray, I don't see the point.

I had most of Tarantino's on standard def dvd plus Inglourious Basterds on Blu, but ended up double dipping when the last boxset came out.

I've double dipped with:

Star Wars: VHS, DVD, Blu-ray (including special editions)

Empire Strikes Back: VHS,DVD, Blu Ray

Return Of The Jedi: VHS, DVD, Blu Ray

Phantom Menace: DVD, Blu Ray

Attack Of The Clones: DVD, Blu Ray

Superman flims (all 4) DVD, Blu Ray

Raiders Of The Lost Ark: VHS, DVD, Blu Ray

Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom: VHS, DVD, Blu Ray

E.T. : DVD, Blu Ray

I've bought so many different copies of Star Wars over the years that I've had to make a rule: no more until the blu ray release of the original, unaltered trilogy.

I've got the original unaltered Star Wars trilogy on VHS, plus the "improved versions" that came out in '97 (also on VHS, but with no Hayden Christensen tagged on at the end of Jedi as the prequels haven't come out yet).

I also own the entire saga on DVD, from Franchise Menace to Return Of The Jedi, plus the animated Clone Wars miniseries and the made for TV Ewok Movies. If I would find a copy of The Star Wars Holiday Special on DVD, I'd probably get that too.

I don't have any movies on Blu-Ray as I don't have a Blu-Ray player. And it doesn't make much sense to buy one since I don't own an HD TV. Also, I watch movies on a projector, not a TV.

DVD's look really blurry on screens that are over 40'', which mine is. I don't even watch my DVD's anymore for that reason. Some DVD's have terrible image quality, the image quality on Blu-ray release is so much better.

Tell me about it, I've already bought them eight times.

VHS
Widescreen VHS
1995 Digitally remastered editions on Laserdisc
1997 VHS Special Editions
Reissued VHS Special Editions
2004 DVD's
Two-Disc Special Editions and Original Theatrical Versions on DVD
2011 Blu-ray's

If Disney releases the unaltered versions I'll toss my Blu-ray's and other editions.
