So the series has ended with the ending that basically all of us guessed beforehand. Not fulfilling enough to make up for last bunch of ****** sequels. I really loved the first Saw, because of it's originality and the fact that it was as much of a thriller as it was a gorefest. I hoped that this last Saw would really tie the series up, but at the end it's like, that's it? Big deal.
I saw the ending on youtube and I can tell you that even though I didnt pay to see the whole movie I still felt cheated. I hate use this term but from what I saw it felt very fanboyish. It almost feels like the makers went on youtube and looked up everyones theories and went with that as the ending. I cant remember the last time an ending was so obvious just based off a casting being made 6 months prior to its release. I would like to hope this is it for the saw franchise and we can all move on. but we all know next october we will get saw 8 in theaters or it be a straight to dvd release.
Overall, I was disappointed. I thought the plot was going to be Jigsaw's final game with all the traps victims being previous game survivors. That would've freaking epic, but noooo instead we get a *****ty rehash of the previous film. Such wasted potential.
Other gripes:
I would've had the two guys actually fight each other to the death in the opening scene instead of sacrificing the two timing broad. Fu**, that sucked!
Jigsaw should've had way more screentime.
I couldn't stand Bobby, but he should've won his game. That would've been a nice change.
Even with this closure, there's still so many questions unanswered. SAW is now Lost
The ending was great
Dr. Gordon FTW! (although I would've kept his appearance a secret until the reveal scene)
, but that's pretty much the only thing I liked about the movie besides another Hoffman massacre and some of the traps. RIP SAW (2004-2010)
Well I don't think John or Jill were trying to murder Hoffman, it was a test. In saw VI in flash back I think Amanda even called him out, that he had never been tested.
If the trap was inescapable Hoffman wouldn't have survived. Thing is that Hoffman took it personal. Probably because of is ego as Jigsaw he didnt obtain any kind of enlightenment.
I believe Jill was supposed to give him a fair chance, but as soon as she discovered his betrayal in the letter, she went against John's principles and gave him a dose of his own medicine. He was supposed to die.
However, much to everybody's surprise including Hoffman himself, he survived his ordeal, but instead of appreciating life and staying loyal, the experience of near death only made him worse. The beast had gone mad and could no longer be saved.

Not using the previous victims beyond the meeting made the ending obvious so I understand a lot of those complaints. I also agree that
Bobby should of made it , It was sad to see his wife burn to death and I think the guy definitely learned his lesson. I kept thinking the cops were gonna come in and extinguish the flames or rescue her.
Bobby definitely should've won his game, I do agree with that. He went through a lot of hell to get to his wife and to watch her die ultimately made me feel the ultimate sympathy for him. Sure, what he did was nasty and pathetic, however, I got the feeling that he wasn't really a bad person just a guy looking for a quick buck.
It seems people are either ignoring my posts about the lack of Jigsaw or not researching, so I am going to say it one more time.
It was confirmed during pre-production, shooting, and post production that Tobin Bell wouldn't have that much screen time compared to the previous films. This was Tobin's last contractual obligation to the Saw franchise, same with Costas, and Betsy. So why people are complaining about the lack of Jigsaw is beyond me.
You knew this from the beginning and both Tobin, Kevin, and Patrick Melton confirmed it time and time again that Costas, Betsy, and Sean would be getting the majority of the screen time. Don't be mad because for the first time you had an actor, director, and a producer/writer who was actually honest about the involvement of one of their iconic horror characters.
This is the last Saw. Face it, Tobin is done, Costas is done, Betsy is done, and sure as hell Cary won't do another one. So without any of your major characters and the rest of the characters dead there's no story or a point to continue.
No. It just made it more and more worthy of rolling your eyes. There's such a thing as being too complex. They were more lame twists to surprise us rather than actual story moments.
Except for the fact that just about every sequel has revolved around thematic elements that the twist was a fulfillment of, one of the most shallow twists in the entire series belongs to the supposed "best of the series" (accoding to most of the whiners) first film of "hey look, he was on the floor the whole time! That doesn't mean anything at all, and you could tell the exact same story with the exact same point without it, but we wanted the movie to end in a twist, so here ya go!"
The first remains one of the weakest SAW films...and Jill was never an apprentice btw. He chose Hoffman, he could see Hoffman was not going to carry on his work the way he wanted him to, so he chose Amanda...there were others involved along the way, but those were the only two that were ever apprentices.

I'll have to rewatch Saw VI but I don't remember there being a key for the device and she denied him it.
The way I see it Hoffman is Jigsaw's successor. He knows the tricks of the trade, he built the traps himself. For him to be tested the bar needed to be raised.
If anything getting out of that trap was way too easy. Most subjects spend half of their game time in shock of the predicament they are in and the remainder trying to gather the courage to go through with it.
Hoffman injured his face and hand but it seems like almost nothing compared to what others are expected in endure. Ultimately he didn't lose much and he certainly didn't learn his lesson. Truth is if he forgave Jill he wouldn't be in the situation he was in at the end of Saw 3D. Which is why I believe his test wasn't over.
I actually rather enjoyed it. I liked Bobby's character and felt that all along he had regretted making up his lie, but the good that came out of it in terms of helping people alleviated his sense of shame. I agree he should have won his game.
I also enjoyed Gibson (thought he looked like a young Christian Bale) and
was disapointed when he died. I knew that room would be booby trapped; I wanted at least one cop to survive this series.
I loved the end sequence. Overall I'd give it a 7/10.
My only unanswered question from this series is
who helped Gordon at the end? My guess would be two of the other survivors.
Is anyone else kind of upset about Hoffman's fate? This is a guy who outsmarted countless people, killed tons of cops and FBI agents, and escapes a supposedly inescapable reverse bear trap at the end of VI. I Just kind of feel robbed to see him go out the way he did, I feel he deserved a better finale or shouldn't have died at all.
i think if they really REALLY wanted this series to end they would have killed him. i heard that the producers and writers thought it would be interesting that the series ends in the bathroom the way it begins but as anybody should kno, aside from adam, nobodys really died while still in a shackle in that room. there are plenty of things he could use to get out of there and i think gordon should have called the cops or lit the place ablaze.
in an interview with the guy that plays hoffman he said they filmed a death scene and a live scene- clearly they chose the live scene but i am interested in how exactly he died in the alternate ending. however, i hope this isnt the death scene cuz, while i can buy its the end and 'haha how clever the bathroom was never found' it just seems like they almost left enough open to make a sequel and that is not how the series shoudl go out. they raised too many questions and the movie felt too rushed for an ending. i feel there is going to be more footage on the directors cut given the director stated they filmed almost 3 times more footage than others for this one. so i'll reserve my judgment til then

I agree,he was a really great and effective villain and then all of it was sort of undone by him getting defeated and out witted so damn easily. Putting him in the room where it all began is weak too since it was revisited after Saw and before this latest Saw movie.
as badass as he was, he really never was much of a fighter. jill could have easily killed him if she had something bigger to stab him with, im sure he let strahm but he got knocked around pretty good for that fight. and john overtook him easily. hell, paul put up more of a fight than hoffman ever did. he got taken down by 3 people, one of which was handicapped, and it really wasnt much of a struggle for him at all
i dont see the point in censoring spoilers seeing as how the film is already out and people should be warry of that on here bUT...
the only people left alive are hoffman, bobby and gordon. i seriously doubt there could be any more tapes from john so i just think the movies should have ended here with more of a finale feel to it. like i said, there may be more on a dvd seeing as how saw 3 got well over 12 minutes put back into it with a better ending
That said...how big is her role? Whether or not I see this in a theater depends largely on how much screen time she gets. I'm no huge fan of hers or anything...but I do think she's a good fit for horror films and watched the show where she won...and I am so spent on Saw films and uninterested in 3D movies in general that she's about the only reason I would pay to see it, just to see if she shows signs of a future in other horror films...

Well I'll say that it's not a speaking part, she is a pawn in a game involving another character. The game lasts a couple of minutes but her actual screen time is probably only a few seconds before she is killed.
So if she is the only reason you would go see the movie then don't.

Sounds like a Netflix. I'm about to watch part 6 on Netflix. I don't even think I saw part 5.
And kind of a shaft for her to win a "break out role" and not even get a speaking part. I think season 1's winner supposedly got a pretty good role in Saw 6, and I believe came back for saw 3D... Maybe West was intended for something bigger in the movie and blew it...
Tenedra Howard from the previous film (Pound of Flesh) survivor had more screen time than her.

Deep down in our hearts, producers, writers, everything, they don't want it to end so why you don't you guys show up, kick the ***** out of Paranormal Activity and everybody else at the time and lets make another one?!!
As you can see, Costas is not done and is still down for the series continuing preferably with him in it.
Betsy could still be used for flashbacks.
Tobin will be back because the fans demand his presence. He is the backbone of SAW and to do more films without him is a crucial mistake. Besides, we need more flashbacks to answer the remaining unresolved questions.
As for Cary, this is the same guy who expressed no interest in returning to the SAW franchise when asked during a red carpet event for a movie premiere last year. Nice paycheck + dwindling career = role reprisal
Besides, we all thought SAW III was the last. After all, Jigsaw AND Amanda were killed off at the end. Yet the series got an additional four sequels afterwards!
I'll have to rewatch Saw VI but I don't remember there being a key for the device and she denied him it.
It was in the script, but wasn't filmed. If Hoffman's test was fair, he wouldn't have been restrained.

Hoffman's second chance game. Jigsaw saw that Hoffman was veering from the path so he had him (re)tested to make sure he was worthy of carrying on the legacy.
Instead of appreciating his life and staying loyal, Hoffman became a monster and killed countless innocent people. All Hoffman had to do was follow Jigsaw's principles and work with Jill or leave her alone.
He killed Jill and thus failed. Now because of his selfishness, Mark Hoffman is destined to die a horrible death.
As for the naysayers, Jigsaw, Hoffman, and I'm sure even Dr. Gordon knew about Eric Matthew's escape from the bathroom. Dr. Gordon will make sure that mistake doesn't happen again.
who helped Gordon at the end? My guess would be two of the other survivors.
My best guess would be Gordon's wife and Drill Chair Jeff from the first SAW.

They can make another one now and say it was the fans that wanted it. If they are going to do this I hope they make the new Jigsaw a truly worthy successor .

The only new "Jigsaw" is Gordon. If they do make an 8th one they shouldn't use 3D and maybe even get James Wan to direct it. I mean, really, what is James Wan doing these days? I say bring him back and make the 8th film similar to the first one.
