Seeing as Disney is remaking its old school movies like "The Black Hole", another potential project they could try is their 1963 mini-series "Dr. Syn: The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh". Based on Russell Thorndike's "The Further Adventures of Doctor Syn" and William Buchanan's "Christopher Syn", the plot involves Reverend Syn, in his disguise as the Scarecrow outwitting the king's agents and keeps his band of Dymchurch smugglers out of prison.

I can see this being an adequate project for Tim Burton. Very "Batman" meets "Sleepy Hollow".

Here's the intro from the Disney mini-series:

I'd check it out. Hammer did an adaptation called Captain Clegg (Night Creatures in the U.S.). They changed the Dr. Syn name though because Disney was releasing their version around the same time. but Hammer's version kicks ass.

^^^..yeah, I've come across segments of that one on youtube and looks pretty fun, like Captain Kronos.

The mini-series is straight-up amazing. I bought the limited edition boxset they released a while ago, and it was the most expensive DVD I've ever bought, but it was so worth it. It'll be hard to see anyone else replace the brooding Patrick McGoohan in the role.

I can see someone like Liam Neeson, Daniel Craig, or Clive Owen doing the role justice.

Reminds me of the Disney version of Zorro.

^^^ it's highly likely that one of the reasons Disney picked a project like Dr. Syn was to capitalize on their success with Zorro, which had ended its run a couple of years earlier before Dr. Syn began in 1963.
