Dumb & Dumber 2-Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels Return

My faith in this movie has been restored after seeing those TV spots.

I feel the same way. I'm very happy that after a few drafts with Morris and Anders, the same writing team from the first one was assembled for this film.

Its been what like 20 years since the original I don't think I can muster up the strength to see this in theaters, looks like a desperate attempt by Jim Carrey to reclaim some of his relevance back. Jeff Daniels at least has had a steady career with character roles.

Two more TV spots:

Oh man, these TV spots are encouraging. Crossing my fingers.

I'll see Interstellar a bunch of times and then get around to this.

Yeah, I need to see this. I just haven't seen a blatantly slapstick movie since Three Stooges.

on youtube listen to the Howard Stern interview. funny.

You can tell is the same writers.
The fart conversation had me laughing a lot.

This movie is gonna bomb. Seriously, 20 years was way to long for a sequel to this. Besides this movie has some heavy competion Interstellar, Horrible Bosses 2, and Hungry Games Mocking Jay. This will be a redbox/ Netflix type of movie for me.

Care to make a friendly wager on that?

I don't think it'll do gangbusters or anything, but I very much doubt this is going to bomb.

No way it bombs.

I don't think it will bomb. I think it will have a really strong opening weekend and then fall off drastically, though. Maybe I'm wrong.

There are not many succesful comedies lately. After all this big blockbusters people just want to have a laugh, I think it will have a very decent box office result.

Might not bomb, but I don't think it's going to do very well at all. Anyone have an tracking estimates?

I don't know, I think this'll do well. To me at least, this is a bigger deal than Anchorman 2.

I just have a feeling that this is going to be like another Ace Ventura 2, where they try too hard to just repeat the gags from the first one to a cartoonish extent. We'll see. I hope it's good, but even though the first one is probably one of the best comedies ever, I just don't have high hopes for this.

So far tracking is high with a 30M+ opening.

Another title generating strong interest is sequel Dumb and Dumber To, according to early tracking. The Farrelly brothers' sequel, reuniting Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, opens Nov. 14 and could open to $30 million or more. Universal is releasing the comedy on behalf of Red Granite Pictures.

Don't underestimate this film. The original is beloved and 20 years didn't stop Indiana Jones or Rocky Balboa from being big hits.

Every 30-something will be seeing this.

IJ and Rocky are films in a whole other league than this. I never saw the original, nor did many people I know that are my age (29-33). Never cared for the humor, nor do I think it is "beloved".

Gonna agree that this won't do well.

Have to disagree there. Most of the people in my office (ages ranging from 26-65) saw the original in the cinema/have seen it on tv and its oft quoted (same too in my old job). When it came out I saw the movie 4 times at the cinema and it was full for the 1st 3 times. My fiance (who is 3 years younger than me also saw it). I can only speak for myself and the area that I live but I can tell you that a lot of people saw the original and hold it in high regard.
