Sci-Fi Dune

I just don't get it without more information. When is this taking place? Are we going full on back to the Sorceresses of Rossak, is this during the events of Dune but from another perspective, is it after the Scattering and the God Emperor?
Just saying a Sisterhood tv show could mean about anything, it's a dam long timeline.

Yeah but the difference here is that The Dark Tower books are actually good.

(Dodges rocks)

Just kidding! But I do have to admit that Dune is hard to get through. As Yoda would say, “Page turners, they were not.”

That's the thing, i struggle to get through kings books. Dark tower is a great concept and an idea that i would be 100% into. Unique characters. But i struggled and gave up by the third book. Couldn't finish the stand either. Think it might be that they seem very american to me (corn fields, good old boys etc...) i didn't relate to.

I just finished reading the first book and yeah, Villeneuve and co. have their work cut out for them. This is not a text that's easily adaptable to screen at all. The amount of lore and world building to get through to the audience, the scope of the characters and ideas and how to present that cinematically. Probably a good one-third of all the book's dialogue consists of internal monologues that go on concurrently with the dialogue and often contradict what's being said. It's all so strange and obtuse and I'm really not sure how it'll end up looking on film.

Think Villeneuve is the perfect director to attempt it. Helps that it will only be the first half of the book.

I really hope that it makes a profit though. I think it will be a masterpiece. I just don't think it will be popular with the average joe.

I'm pretty sure it will not be an origine story ( no Rossak ) and neither about the Scattering or God Emperor ( too detached from the first book ). Could be wrong though.
I think it will be around the first book era where the BG is still powerfull and will deal with the Sisters schemings ( political and their breeding program ).

I would bet on the show being early on in Shaddam's reign. Or a bit before.

How would NZ actor KJ Apa (Archie from Riverdale) look as Feyd-Rautha? Also read a tweet from Dan Slott that he would like him to be play Johnny Storm in the MCU Fantastic Four too.

We shall see.

i think there is zero chance that the first movie makes a big profit. so even if the movie makes enough profit for the sequel (second half of the book) i think there is zero chance that Villeneuve directs the second movie in the same stye and tone as the first movie that will be out in 2020. So since he wouldnt be able to do the second movie in his own style he would drop out. so the sequel would be directed by a small name and the studio would play it safe. So you get the second half of the story told in a studio driven safe looking boring fast edited movie.

Enjoy the first half of the story in 2020. Thats all you will get :up:

If it gets a few oscars though it would be difficult to drop him.
Hope it makes a profit.

I'm glad he's so up for it. Maybe he can turn in one of his best pieces of work for it.

Hope we‘lol get some footage this weekend. Maybe a few setpics. But I assume, that they release a first look only on some movie magazine. Maybe they‘ll announce the Feyd actor

Would be really nice if they gave us something. Not asking for footage (too early) but pics maybe. A teaser pic.

I hope Zimmer does much better job than in BR49.

That's fine by me. I like how Nolan is working with someone different and maybe this is an opportunity for Zimmer to really challenge himself. If anything Villenueve would be the guy to push him.

Exclusive: Denis Villenueve's Dune Film to Gender Swap Liet Kynes - Bounding Into Comics

While Kynes will be gender-swapped, her role in the upcoming film appears to be the same. She will still be an Imperial Ecologist and act as the Judge of the Change as control of the planet Arrakis is handed over to House Atreides. Not only that, but Kynes will be the mother of Zendaya’s Chani. Readers of the book know that Chani is the lover and eventual concubine of Paul Atreides. She also bears his children. As to who could be playing Liet Kynes, my source speculates it will be actress Sharon Duncan-Brewster. She is credited on IMDB as having a role in Dune, but they don’t detail which specific role she is playing. Duncan-Brewster previously portrayed Senator Pamlo in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and plays Fran Baxter in Years and Years. She also played Maggie Cain in Doctor Who.
