I’m trying to figure that one out too. In the book, the gladiator sequence takes place around the same time as everything else, so it’s not a flashback. Though maybe they changed it to something that happened previously and did it in black and white to make that even more clear.

But if it’s not a flashback, then perhaps somehow the Harkonnens have found a way to remove color in the arena. That doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but… neither does having a spider-human hybrid sex slave, lol.

I actually think the second may be possible. There wouldn't be natural sunlight on Giedi Prime, it's covered with pollution, so recreating artificial sunlight in an inside arena would make sense seeing as it looks so bright in those shots.

I like the casting of Austin Butler as Feyd and Florence Pugh as Irulan. Those are good choices. I also like seeing Paul performing his first worm ride.

At the same time, I need Denis Villeneuve to give me more than what I got in the first film. Interstellar travel was kept too vague. I want to see the Guildsmen, Guild Navigators, space travel, folding through space-time, and the Spacing Guild. I've wanted to see that on the big screen for decades.
