How is ‘revealing too much’ an error with a Dune movie trailer? The book has been out for 60 years…
I agree with this, but even my bro who knows the story was like, "they're showing too much". Though I do wonder that we recognize this stuff because we already know the story so well.

Firstly this might come as a shock but the vast majority of people who have watched and loved the first film have not read the book and I'm one of them. Secondly I didn't say it is an error. It's the second trailer so of course they would have shown a lot and nobody forced me to watch this. I just explained why I personally didn't love it like the first.

I don't know how I imagined Walken in the role, but this ain't in, and I mean that as a complete compliment. That line about Leto... there has to be a knife fight afterwards! Someone's gotta go!

My favorite shot from the trailer...

I was expecting something a bit more ostentatious costume wise for Shaddam, especially after seeing Irulans, but this modern minimalism works.

Not even a peek at Alia.

Denis is a magician, he's making these films for less money than the latest Ant-Man, and The Flash.
Has there been any confirmation of the budget of the sequel? I remember the first one cost only 165 million. Incredible feat for a movie with such a production and huge cast.

Yeah, we know what they show, but I doubt the GA, who don't know the book, will know just what they showed. And honestly, given how modern blockbusters work, I assume they think the big battle is the grand finale.

I mean, Shaddam was always described as only wearing a military uniform, not grand, exquisite clothes you would expect of a galactic emperor.

Yet they didn't even put him in a uniform, instead he looks like he walked off a Rick Owens runway. I actually dig it. Just...unexpected. We won't even get into the fact that he's suppose to look about 35 though he's in his 70's.
None of that matters to me though, been sold on the casting from the announcement and costumes and production design look amazing.
I haven't been this hyped for awhile.

Really liking what they're doing with Chani here. I also love that Dune has become the, "anti-woke/it's just a movie" a lot of chuds are rallying around, when it's about what it's about. :funny:

Have they stopped being pissed about black Fremen? Or Liet Kynes?

To be fair, the source material has a tendency to align with their views.

While it's a product of it's time, it is a story about the dangers of the white savior. And Denis seems to get that, fully. Oh, and seize the means of production!

The latest report was that this cost LESS than the first film, which seems insane, but who knows. It's hard to imagine Villeneuve not getting a budget increase after the first one.
Hmm, I see some websites saying the second part cost 122 million to make which is obviously not true. We'll see. I'm very curious of the actual budget and what the running time will end up being.

Good, give us a Messiah intro/codex… then jump into Children Of Dune.

It’d be a crime to not get that.

Still hope we’ll get God Emperor at some point down the road in this universe with at least Denis producing.

Despite the good film summer my film interest has been oddly absent. I've barely given it any thought the last few weeks, instead focusing on other interests and enjoying nature in the great summer weather.

That is until I saw this trailer pop up in my feed. Holy crap that was amazing. From nothing to peak film hype in 3 minutes.

Looks appropriately epic, as to be expected. And hopefully free from the awkward script constraints of Part 1. Can't wait!

There’s a different quality coming out of this one compared to most of the rest. Feels like it’s going to be on a higher level to the other big Hollywood films around it.

'Three-film saga' ?

Did this confirm Dune Messiah?

Apologies if this was known, I had no idea. :cowboy:

That would be great, if he extended it to the next book, which closes out Paul's narative.
And people can finally see Luke and Leia, I mean Adam and Adora, sorry Leto and Ghanima be born.

Denis has talked about how he’d like to do Messiah some day as a hypothetical, but this is certainly the first I’ve seen of it mentioned as the official plan! :mrk:

It better have! Dune Messiah is my fave book in the series, and if Denis does it I will be beyond happy
