Sci-Fi Dune

Tickets for part 2 released today in Sweden so I got mine for the 28th. Now it feels close and real enough that I can finally have the strength to avoid any new footage. I can't wait to sit down in the theater.

As long as we can get someone to adapt Child Of Dune/God Emperor next and have it feel cohesive to this trilogy ala Reeves 'trilogy' > Wes Ball's trilogy TPOTA.

We also get a nice Alia hint here.
"An embryo who advises her mother from the womb."

I saw some people wonder whether this movie might not have a jump and feature her as an embryo throughout. At least we know the movie doesn't open with any time jump. Doing a few scenes that start right after the previous movie and then follow up with a time jump might be a bit messy. Guess it could still be a more gradual progression of time though.

I'm only a third into Children of Dune, maybe it's not logistically possible, but something about it feels better suited for a show than a movie to me.
Yeah, my dream-dream is for HBO to herald those latter books as 6-8 episode series since DUNE was already split luckily into 2x films.

Same with Bond. Just adapt all the novels, make them period pieces of 4-6 episode seasons... use GOT style scouting and MAD MEN levels of production and boom.

Sign up 4-5 actors (as Bond/MI5) for roughly 7 years, release two series a year.

Irulan is one of my favorite non main characters in the series. I love it when her role gets expanded. And was bummed when the Irulan of Dune book was cancelled. While not a big fan of a lot of the neo Dune books, I did enjoy Paul and Sands of Dune, and wanted more of that with Irulan and Leto of Dune. And turns out, a version of Irulan was just published, just not exactly what I was expecting.

As for Children and God Emperor, 2 movies each is fine. I don't think you need every little bit of the books adapted.

Looks like Part One will be in IMAX theaters for a while starting early Feb for those who didn't get a chance to see it in 2021, and to rake in some extra cash and get the hype rolling even more, of course.

Children of Dune I think could support either 2 or 3 movies, depending how ya want to do it. I think that's a great jumping on point for a new director and such.

it still looks like the hairy buttholes we used to draw as kids.

I'm thoroughly convinced that Kimmel got them all there a month early to be the first talk show to utilize the popcorn bucket.
