so i just read those two volumes, and they were great, but the preview for volume 2 at the end of volume 1 had nothing to do with what volume 2 was about. and in the opening page of volume one it states that vo. 1 and vol. 2 were both written by chris sarracini but on the cover of vol. 2, it says brad mick wrote vol. 2. is there another series of G1 comics that directly continues where vol. 1 left off, or was the preview story idea for vol. 2 completely scraped when brad mick was brought on board? i'm very interested in this cuz the preview for vol. 2 to me, was much more interesting than what the actual vol. 2 was about. i mean it had a fishing crew finding the arc and optimus malfuncting and falling off a cliff. i wanted to know what followed.

I'm guessing it's one of those things to which there probably was intended to be an answer, but thanks to Dreamwave's collapse, we'll probably never learn what that was.

I like to think it had something to do with Alpha Trion and Unicron; some of the art for the unpublished issues of the ongoing seems to support this, as some of the pencils depict Optimus snapping out of his coma and racing to Alpha's rescue, where the old fart is still lashed up where Shockwave left him.

Wish I could find a link to those pencils, though...:csad:

No it was covered in Volume three. The ship that crashed and killed a bunch of whales was carrying Jetfire and Omega Supreme. They, like many other Autobots left Cybertron to find what happened to the Ark. They managed to find some odd energy signatures on Earth, but before landing, Scourge attacked the ship sending it to the Arctic Ocean. Jetfire escaped through a Stasis-Pod, and hid while scourge was looking through. The Pod was rigged to overwhelm him and capture Scourge. Jetfire was heading back to his ship when an avalanche fell on him, which is where Volume 2 started with a big battle between Optimus and Megatron and Scourge escaping the pod and getting shot by Shockwave. This is all explained in Volume three issue's 1-6 of Dreamwaves series that lasted 10 issues. It marked the return of Megatron, Shockwave, the Combaticons, and many others.

Here are some covers and pages of the issues after vol 2

It's also rumored that IDW is attempting to obtain the rights for Dreamwave's stories, and they show interest in the G1 story. so hopefully they will b/c that means that they will pick up where DW left off.

so that is continued in volume 3. alright, great, i'm going to be getting that when it comes out, doesn't come out till december right? or is it already out? and what about optimuses collipase in the preview? is that just ignored? thanks for all the info. glad to here that story line is actually told, but its incompelet as it stands right? DW went under before it could be finished is what i've heard.

I'm not sure if Volume 3 is or will be out in TPB. It was suppose to come out in 04 and i dont know if it did. I hope IDW will release it like they did with Volume 1&2. You could probably go to your local comic book store and see if they have any back issues of the on-going series they did or check out ebay, since the company went bankrupt you could no doubt get them really cheap.

Optimus was suppose to come out of his coma in issue 11 but Dreamwave went down under that month. From the pencils Guido Guidi did, it looks pretty neat.

The last few series/titles that were being published by DW when it went under are on hold before they can be released by IDW. Those issues are still tied up in bankrupty ligation. :(

so when volume 3 kicks off, its before volume 2 starts? so is that what the entire volume 3 of the on going series is? just pre volume 2? cuz it sounds like thats what it is, with optimus coming out of his coma but when volume 2 starts hes already out of it. but i guess i'll find out when i get my hands on the volume. if you go to amazon, you can find volume 3 for pre order which is due to ship, i believe in december. its to bad its taking so long for idw to get there hands on the DW material, cuz i love it and can't wait to see more of it. espically war within, which i hope they continue.

No, Im sorry for the confusion. The series begins about a week after Volume 2. Starscream has returnd to Earth with his band of Decepticons that escaped from the final battle on Cybertron, and has defeated all but two of the Autobots that remained on Earth when Optimus was captured. Volume three is about Starscream's brother, Sunstorm who has escaped one of Shockwaves labs on Cybertron to embark on a sort of Crusade on Earth. During the Series Jetfire returns and he explains how he got on earth in a flashback(the whole spaceship crashing and killing a bunch of whales). Sorry about the confusion, it takes place after volume 2, but the explanation of the Vol. 2 preview is just explained later in the series as a flashback.

I have to agree, Dreamwaves run was extremely entertaining. Many say it was not good and not worthy of Transformers, but I disagree completely, Brad Mick knew his transformers and he did it well, with making it fresh and new with paying respect and homage's to the G1 cartoon and the comic.

I don't want to spoil it for you, but during the ongoing series, when Megatron comes back, he is a completely different bot and he kicks everyone's ass!

alright, i got most of it now, but what about the collapase that optimus had in the volume 2 preview? is that ever explained?

sort of, but it is kind of explained at the end of Volume 2. Optimus was having these "episodes" because of a great disaster that was about to happen(shockwave coming to earth and conquering Cybertron). These collapses were just a warning of something bigger yet to come like him losing the Matrix from Shockwave, falling into a coma, Megatron returning to conquer Earth, and Unicron's awakening. I don't know if that is what Sarracini was wanting when we wrote the preview, but that what Brad Mick made it into.

ooooo alright, that makes sense, everthing seems to fit now lol i wonder what sarracini had really intended for volume 2?

Did anyone like Dreamwave's Armada/Energon series. I loved the first two issue, but once they brought the human kids in it I was quite skeptical. But once Simon Furman got ahold of the series he made the kids very scarce by the end of Armada, as well as Energon. I really liked the series and got really into the whole thing.

i never read those lines. so far the only transformers comics i've read are, the 2 volumes of war within, the first 2 volumes of G1, the first devils due GI joe vs. transformers volume, the 2nd 2 are on there way to my house now, and dreamwaves world war 2 GI joe vs. the transformers, which was different and awesome.
