Basically it's based on a graphic novel called Hercules: The Thracian War. Anybody read it? Is it any good?

I'm pumped for Dwayne as Hercules, but with Ratner on board, we can never be sure. I've been hoping Dwayne gets an iconic character role the way Arnold got Terminator and Conan, let's see if this movie could be it.

I'm glad Rock is doing more action and I've wanted to see a Hercules film.

The Rock is not a good actor. That plus Ratner = pass. I bet now that this movie is horrible.

That said, I also would like to see a Hercules movie, not this one.

The Rock? A bad actor?

If DJ was a bad actor he not be getting so many movie role offers. I hope this film gets made it might be alot of fun to watch.

Well that isn't really the best logic to use either but The Rock does bring in BO Receipts and that's matters, plus he isn't the most horrid actor ever actually he can be pretty fun to watch with the right script. The problem I see with this is Ratner, hopefully this is a good project of his but still it's Hercules so I'm there.

Personally, I think this is awesome, but I hope it doesn't mess up Hercules appearing in a future Avengers film. He's my favorite.

Same here.

Instead of giving us a possible bad ass big budget film about his trials, we got something based on a ****** comic. :csad:

Man I love The Rock. Bring the flick on. We need more cheesy muscle man action movies.

Did you read the comics?

No and I don't care. When I hear of a Hercules movie(and not based on the Marvel character)I would prefer showing his trials rather than some fan fiction.

With all the god movies in the past decade I think we are ready for a good Hercules movie. A guy that dead pans with a raised eye brow is not the person for Hercules. Hell, give me a young Hercules movie where he is a 20 something. We don't have to have a 40 year old wrestler because Hercules must be 6'4 and weigh 280.

Yes, because the only notable thing in Hercules' myth is the 12 Trials.

Name one great Dwayne the Rock Johnson movie in which he showcased his acting abilities.
all of them lol sorry you dont need some independent drama to showcase acting skills my friend

he can be funny and also very good when serious he has screen presence and oozes charisma

The Rock is black...he does not look Greek  I usually think characters are raceless and it doesn't really matter (most of the time) to change a characters race, but Hercules looking Greek is intrinsic to his character because he is from greek mythology.

And yes, I think the Rock is a horrible actor AND not so much of a good entertainer. Arnold wasn't a good actor either but he was pretty damn entertaining and he would draw you into a movie; therefore there is a reason for his success. I can't say the same about The Rock.

I think Dwayne Johnson has tremendous screen presence. It's too bad it will be wasted on a lifeless director.

Of all the books I've read, yes. After that he ascends to Mt Olympus.

Maybe if they made this story into a sequel I wouldn't mind, but I just think it's a missed opportunity making a movie that takes place after his biggest story.

*sigh*

I'd actually like to see a serious Hercules movie with an actor that I could really see for Hercules and not The Rock. I love Johnson but I'd prefer to see someone else with a different vision. The Hercules story sounds like it has a lot of potential already.

In the 90's when I was a youngling, I watched a show called Young Hercules where Ryan Gosling played Hercules. It was a very cool show.

If they are going to cast a big 40 year old wrestler, they are better off going with Dave Batista. At least he's Greek.

But the proper way to do things is cast a good young actor in the role, like what they did on Thor with Chris Hemsworth.

As an african american myself, im glad a black actor is getting a shot at Hercules. Besides alot of epic films had white actors playing black characters so this should not be a problem.

Is it just me or the Rock really wants to be in a movie based on a comic book?

First off, The Rock is also Samoan if that mattered. I just think he looks more Samoan than black but like what I said before that's irrelevant.

Also Kevin Sorbo doesnt look Greek and he played the character. In fact, many depictions of Greek characters are also done by Brits with British accents.

Hell are suppose to buy Sam Worthington as an ancient Greek? Anicent Greece and Rome are so divorce from modern day (bedsides their cultural influences) that we
can have some leeway with their depictions. Especially if they're mythological!

What's your point?
