Just watched the new #HERCULESMovie teaser trailer. POWERFUL. Proud to show you in 2 weeks. #12Labors

Why does that tweet end with "#12Labors"??

Isn't this film taking place after the labors?

How strong is he supposed to be in this? I hope they don't go the boring route where he's just a badass fighter. I want to see some impressive feats of strength, like throwing an elephant at some guys or something.

Because everyone associates Hercules with the 12 Labors?

If it's like the comics then more of badass, though powerful, fighter. Only example I can think of is from the video game God of War where Hercules is similar in strength to Kratos I guess. In the comic he punches down walls and ceilings and recounts about dealing with Poseidon's sea monsters.

Yeah, I want to see feats of strength as well. He doesn't even have to be like Hulk or Superman. I'll take Captain America-esque strength, not just a body builder who can fight well.

Yes, I realize that but it's kind of weak for them to have included that hash tag when they *****ed out and decided to not show the 12 labors in this film.

Ah that's a better example than mine. Yeah it's that level of strength in the comics.

Johnson has been using the 12 Labors thing for the shoot of the movie and whatnot because it's his role of a lifetime and dream, like his food intake comprising of "12 epic meals" and workouts etc.

The story and books they're adapting takes place long after the 12 Labors so nobody *****ed out.

I have to say, regardless if this movie turns out to be crap (let's be honest, it's Brett Ratner), I'm really happy for Dwayne Johnson and the fact that he got to play his favorite character of all-time. If I remember correctly, he said this was his dream role since he was a little boy, and it was his childhood hero. Can you imagine how awesome it is to do that? I can't even fathom it. With a lot of these movies, you see actors cast and they spout total BS in interviews like, "Oh yeah, he was favorite superhero and I read every comic when I was little," and it's a total lie... Dwayne Johnson's actually telling the truth. :word:

I see. I wasn't sure if it was an original idea or based on something. I'm just disappointed that no one has made a big budget film about the 12 Labors. I've only been able to find DTV films that were pretty terrible.

Since I'm most likely never going to see a full on Marvel Herc film, this will do nicely. I remember as a wee lad watch the Steve Reeves films. Not great per se, but some of the imagery and moments still kind of hold up. I would love to see Johnson swing huge chains from manacles at his enemies. Ratner could surprise us all. This is definitely a part Johnson was BORN to play. I believe in him as Herc more than Kevin Sorbo, that's for sure.

It'd be great if they show some of the 12 labors in flashbacks.

No worries and I hear ya. Slightly OT but I was bummed SSMS never did any DLC for God of War III allowing you to play as Hercules and possibly play out the 12 Labors. That would of been some killer DLC.

Well the graphic novel does dedicate one page showing the 12 Labors but it probably won't be in the film.

The squint and beard makes him look like old school Arnold.

I think that's one thing missing from Johnson's films is doing ridiculous Schwarzenegger-esque feats of strength. Like ripping doors off cars and picking up the backs of pick up trucks and holding ridiculously huge weapons single handed, or akimbo.

Well, I mean, I understand that they're going more "realistic", but, while maybe they don't have to show The Hydra, for example, they could show a glimpse of the fight with the lion, the boar, or the flesh-eating horses.

This looks cool, but I still want them to make a HERACLES movie someday, about a half-psychotic Greek hero who has orgies and murders his own children. For once, it would be cool to see one of these mythology movies be as f***ed up as the myths themselves were.

He kinda looks like Mickey Rourke's Hyperion from "Immortals" there.

They did try a couple of years ago with a cheese ball TV movie that starred Sean Astin as Herc's sidekick but they fumbled the ball by saying that Herc's dad was NOT in fact Zeus King of the Gods but was actually Antaeus the Earth thug or something, even though it made no damn sense (Zeus is shown intervening with a trusty lightning bolt when Herc tries to commit suicide - why should he do that for a guy who is not his son?) and added nothing to the story. It felt like saying Superman came from Mars instead of Krypton - change the origin that drastically and it stops being the character you're trying to sell.

i bet the studio has no idea how to promote this movie. hahah

LOL, yeah. I can just imagine the voice over in the trailer:

You all know the legend of Hercules...

No, wait, not THAT legend of Hercules, the other one. The REAL one.

This is that story.

It will be better than that Kellan Lutz piece of sh**, we promise. Just go see it.
